Bargs to the Wolves

Post#1 » by landen » Fri Jan 18, 2008 4:58 pm

Not sure if either team would do this, but I figured I would try and be creative rather then seeing the same old Bargs trade ideas.

Change in Team Outlook: +17.9 ppg, +10.4 rpg, and +2.3 apg.
Incoming Players
Craig Smith
6-7 PF from Boston College
10.7 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 0.4 apg in 22.0 minutes
Ryan Gomes
6-7 SF from Providence
10.8 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.3 apg in 26.9 minutes
Corey Brewer
6-8 SF from Florida
5.4 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 1.6 apg in 23.1 minutes
Outgoing Players
Andrea Bargnani
7-0 PF from Italy (Foreign)
9.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.0 apg in 22.8 minutes
Minnesota Trade Breakdown
Change in Team Outlook: -17.9 ppg, -10.4 rpg, and -2.3 apg.
Incoming Players
Andrea Bargnani
7-0 PF from Italy (Foreign)
9.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.0 apg in 22.8 minutes
Outgoing Players
Craig Smith
6-7 PF from Boston College
10.7 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 0.4 apg in 22.0 minutes
Ryan Gomes
6-7 SF from Providence
10.8 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.3 apg in 26.9 minutes
Corey Brewer
6-8 SF from Florida
5.4 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 1.6 apg in 23.1 minutes

Why for the Raps- Get their toughness in Smith. SF in Brewer and a great role player in Gomes.

Why for T-Wolves- They are in rebuilding mode and can have patience with Andrea. Al Jeff,Bargs and Foye is a pretty sweet nucleus. Not to mention a top 3 pick they will have in the 2008 draft.

Thoughts.......

Raps sign on the dotted line while Wolves fans commit suicide.

Not a bad deal, Colangelo would probably take a good hard look at this deal but say no because he hasnt given up on Bargnani yet. I like it though.

by the way, please be courteous to others by not doing the lazy copy and paste, use some format so others will actually read it, because I first thought about not even reading this lazy post then I relented and tortured myself.

Bargnani doesn't fit what the wolves need next to Al imo. If they wanted a big that could shoot from the outside and be a poor to fair rebounder they would have kept Blount.

Sending out Smith\Gomes is of no concern to me, but I'd rather have brewer for the wolves than bargs.

Bargnani does not have that kind of value, especially not right now.

Likewise, MN will want to see what Corey Brewer can do. He hasnt had a great rookie season but its too early to give up on him.

Gomes and Smith are certainly on the table in the right deal though, as MN might not be able to resign them next season.

Wolves won't give you Corey Brewer...Bargs is too soft to play center in the West...Feel free to make more deals with Gomes and Smith involved tho...

Brewer has the chance to be a lockdown defender, something that Bargnani will never hear until he reaches 84 years old.

People complain about Bargs disappointing season, Brewer has been nothing short of awful. 5pts 4rbs 35% shooting on the worst team in the league?

The fit might not be the greatest for Minny so I can see you guys passing but as a Raptors fan, I'm not too keen either.

Smills91: This trade is a lot more realistic than Bibby and Artest for Odom and Bynum.

Bargs is going to end up at PF. That's the only slot inked in for the Wolves - value might be O.K., but fit is no go.

Well I agree to a point. The Wolves need a swing man like Brewer after all they wanted him and took a gamble on him. He was a standout with the Gators and imho the best player on that team. Noah was a great leader but Brewer has more talent and will have the better career.

Toronto will not get great value for Bargnani since he's in a slump and hasn't proved anything yet in the league. If a guy like 'Bron, Kobe, Bosh etc slump they still have alot of value since they are premeier players. Bargnani is still quite raw and has alot of potentail and has agreed to workout all summer on his game.

Minny dosn't need a guy like Bargnani since he dosn't gell with Jefferson and like I said they are intreagued with what Brewer brings. If this was last years Bargnani I am sure they would think about this alot more and do the deal as it stands now they don't.

What about a deal that sends Nesterovic, Dixon, Graham and a 2nd round pick for Ryan Gomes, Craig Smith, Antoine Walker and Loukas Mavrokefalidis? I can see alot of Raptor fans saying that Walkers deal is a deal breaker and is overpaied but he brings vetern help to us and is a good shooter. He can also play the 4 in a pinch and is a good rebounder

*Sidenote*
That is a joke for the Lakers, Artest was passed up for Balkman and Nate "can I have a retry in the Dunk off?" Robinson. Bynum is not going anywhere for anything less then a great pick this year or a prospect with alot of upside. IMHO they should keep him.

Minnesota turns this down.

Brewer is long term for us. We would not move him with others for a player that is not a good fit.

Smith has value if he can be used to bring in a 5. Otherwise he is a fan favorite and I hope we keep him as Al's back-up.

Gomes has been a surprise this year and it would be my serious priority to keep him on the wolves this year.

I do not do this deal.

You must not watch any Wolves games. The need for a defensive 5 is obvious. That is not Bargs.

No. Walker is only guarenteed next year. There's no insentive for the Wolves to do with at all, they'd be giving away Smith and Gomes. Smith OR Gomes to take Jaric for that package... maybe.

Ok ESPN has Walker as a 4 year deal that the only way I though he would be going to Toronto with regards to Smith and Gomes. Toronto I doubt would want to touch Jaric

I was gonna read your whole post, but then I glanced at this...Only crazy ass Raptor homers would dare put Bosh, in the same sentence as Kobe and Bron...Wake up!...Bosh is soft and not that special...

I'm a Raps fan, but I do watch quite a few Wolves games. It was actually the style of play that made me think Andrea WOULD be a good fit with the Wolves. Al Jeff is a monster on the boards which would obviously take alot of the rebounding pressure off of Andrea. They also seem to play a wide open style of ball which also fits Andrea. Andrea will be a good player in this league, but a team will need to be patient with him.

I proposed Brewer,Gomes and Smith because I thought they were good pieces for the Raps, but I would be open to other combinations. I do however think Brewer or Foye would have to be involved.

Yeah a All-Star PF is soft that puts up 20-10 is soft  He's a career 19-9 with 1 bpg. How is he soft when he's also pulling down a cereer 2.5 offensive rebounds per game?

Not saying Bosh is worth Kobe or 'Bron but Bosh is elite and would take a huge package to move him out of Toronto.
