Chicago/Miami swapping immovable contracts

Just shaking things up a bit and giving Miami a start on rebuilding

Shaquille O'Neal
Smush Parker

for

Big Ben Wallace
Chris Duhon (expiring)
2008 1st round pick (some protection on it)

Why for Miami?
Miami saves 3.5M in luxury tax this year and 8M off the cap next year and 6M off the year after that and adds a 1st round pick.

Why for Chicago?
When healthy Shaq gives offensive an offensive post scoring threat. Even if his decline he should create better looks for the rest of the team. The change should give Chicago enough of a bump to make the playoffs which may be enough to save Paxson.

It's not a perfect deal for either team, but if you leave the status quo for each not a lot of good is coming from it.

Heat won't trade Shaq. They're stuck with him until 2010.

Chicago should add Nocioni + Gray and the Heat should add Blount

Its just too much money for Chicago to take on. It puts us in luxury tax territory unless we let Gordon or Deng walk, which we would.

So it becomes Gordon, Wallace, Duhon, future first, for Shaq, Smush.

Not happening.

We're not trading Shaq for Big Ben unless that pick is good enough to snag a guy like Jordan. And then the Bulls pass. But swapping Shaq for Ben+mid 1st would be a horrible trade.
