DET/PHX 3 Player Swap

Post#1 » by RTM » Fri Jan 18, 2008 7:46 pm

DET Sends: Rasheed Wallace, Amir Johnson
PHX Sends: Amare Stoudemire

WHY?

Suns get a defensive big with range. Having a player to stop the likes of Duncan could push them over the top. They also get a slam-dunk prospect in Amir who excels at what the Suns like to do best - run and gun. Both players are good shotblockers and fairly good rebounders. Sheed has a balanced offensive attack, while Amir likes to take it to the hoop (keep in mind, he's still very young and raw).

Detroit gets a legit 20/10 star in Amare. The cost is Rasheed (who defines this team like it or not), and our best prospect in Amir. But Amare is good enough to compete now, and will be for a long time.

Suns decline. 'Sheed would help, but he's not worth trading Amare, and Amir isn't anything but a prospect.

Yeah Suns wouldn't do it. Suns would probably trade Marion for Sheed and Amir, etc. But they would definitely want Sheed next to Amare, that would compete for the best front line in the NBA. Actually it would probably be the best front line in the NBA along with Hill.
