LAL / IND / SEA (Updated, v2)
Lakers In:
Jeff Foster
Kurt Thomas
Damien Wilkins
Lakers Out:
Kwame Brown
'08 1st Rounder (LAL)
'08 2nd Rounder (CHA)
Sasha Vujacic
Chris Mihm
Cash Considerations
Why for Lakers:
They get the second big body they desperately need. Kurt Thomas can play the PF when Andrew gets back and drastically upgrade the front line. Odom / Thomas / Bynum is probably one of the better rebounding frontlines... ever. Kurt is perfect for the Tri, and Foster would be GREAT off the bench in the future. For now, the trade allows the Lakers to get two bigs for one and convert Kwame's big expiring into something more useful. I also like Wilkins(for his defense, athleticism, and versatility) and apparently Seattle doesn't. He can be removed (along with Sasha) if necessary. Though the Lakers probably wouldn't send cash in that event(because I think we'd value Wilkins as a positive over Sasha).
Sonics In:
Kwame Brown
'08 1st Rounder
Sasha Vujacic
Cash Considerations
Sonics Out:
Damien Wilkins
Kurt Thomas
'08 2nd Rounder (SEA)
Why for Seattle:
They have a million second rounders, this clears a lot of money should Wilkins decide NOT to opt out and it helps their cap space plan in 2009-2010 in the event that Wilkins doesn't opt out, Kurt Thomas is gone at the end of the year and the 1st allows them to package the Phoenix picks to move up, and they save a little money.
Pacers In:
Chris Mihm
'08 2nd Rounder (SEA)
'08 2nd Rounder (CHA)
Pacers Out:
Jeff Foster
Why for Pacers: One good pick, one pick that can be used to move up or in a package, and $$ saved.

Foster is one of those players that mean more to us then to another team.
Saving 6 mil and getting 2 2nd round draft picks isn't enough for him.

I certainly think this is a realistic trade proposal.
For the Lakers, it shows K Bryant management support for winning now, Kurt Thomas' contract is expiring so there's no long term risk & it would actually lower their team salary about $1M. Bottom line, I haven't seen a trade that would net the Lakers a better big. Including signing CWebb to a free agent contract.
For the Sonics, the 1st for 2nd pick swap would move us up 5 - 10 spots in the draft order, it would conveniently open up playing time for R Swift assuming he's recovered by the deadline and frankly Kurt Thomas' has provided such excellent leadership to the young Sonics management almost owes it to Kurt Thomas to send him to a contender.

Take out the Vujacic for Wilkins swap? That lowers it to about 4 million in extra luxury tax...
I'd love that (Jeff Foster and Kurt Thomas for Kwame, Mihm, 1st, 2nd).
ya take out sasha and wilkins and lakerss do it

I think that the consensus amongst Pacerfans, is that he is worth a mid first rounder, assuming he can be moved for an expiring....
Interesting... Alright, thanks.
I'm not sure he should be worth THAT much more Kurt Thomas, but yall did say he was worth more to you than others.
