I like the trade for the Lakers.

You neglected to include Minnesota's 2nd in the outgoing - so Wolves pay Craig Smith to upgrade maybe 5 or 6 spots in the draft (and pay twice as much for the player, which could be dangerous since they're going to be very close to the lux) and cut a year off Greg Buckner - that's a no. Only way the Wolves do this Tis if you find a way to move Jaric instead of Buckner/Doleac.

I'd do that trade for MIN. Sure we lose 12.5 PPG, but its not like we need it this season. Kwame might actually be an audition, but even if he's awful, MIN would be the best place for him. I really like Craig Smith, but he'd be more useful elsewhere.

I think GSW seems to be getting Craig Smith for free. And I doubt the Lakers have three players on their roster they'd want to drop so that they have room to do a 1-for-4.

Warriors are the ones giving up the lottery pick.

Regardless, fair trade all around

You don't think the Wolves can get more for Craig Smith than dumping Buckner's favorable contract and moving up less than 10 spots in the draft? I think all of the deals in the Craig Smith trade thread are better than that.

Buckner's contract is a favorable expiring next season, but not as favorable as an expiring this season, so we don't have to pay Buckner at all.

I agree there are better trades out there for Craig Smith but I'd take this.

You mean Patrick O'Bryant? The guy you didn't even extend, and is currently averaging 1.5 PPG and 1.2 RPG. Gee -- how about we "save" your lottery pick, and you offer a lottery protected first instead?

There's no reason for GSW to be in this deal. If you think POB and Croshere are helpful, Craig Smith alone is averaging twice as much production.

This trade makes more sense for LAL:

LAL gets: Craig Smith, Doleac, Buckner

MIN GETS: Kwame, Coby Karl, 1st

I inserted Coby Karl's unguaranteed contract so you could make 15-man roster requirements.

That's horrible. Those guys are not worth giving up a 1st rounder for.

It makes no sense to me why you would like the first deal, and not like this. POB's 1.5 PPG and CROSHERE make it worth a 1st, but substituting the eminently more productive, cheaper, Craig Smith does not?

Craig Smith > POB, and it's not even close.

Craig Smith is an energy guy who lacks size. Lamar plays most of the minutes at PF anyway which doesn't give room for Smith. While I do like his toughness, I prefer the potential of O'Bryant's size and length while Andrew is out. Just my opinion though.

I think POB just doesnt fit in gsw system, hes a good shot blocker, man to man defender, and hes still young so hes prolly will still improve. If he can be atleast our own desangana diop then im cool with that, plus hes contract will expire this year anyway

croshere= kwame. croshere he is definetly better than kwame(though kwame is better ma on man defender) hes a veteran, good defender he can guard quick pfs (dirk, garnett), rebounder

Craig Smith and a pick for two worthless bums? Sounds good to me!
