Jason Kapono- Miami fan and Riley Favourite- Deadly shooter
Rasho Nesterovic- Solid vet center- 1 year player option remaining
T.J. Ford- Rising star of a pg- decent contract- Wade and Ford dominant backcourt for years to come
For
Shaquille O'Neal- The center the raptors always needed- capable of two more solid season-being underused in Miami
Chris Quinn- Nice young pg to backup Jose Calderon who the raptors decide is their future pg in this trade.
Accepted in trade checker
====================
Raptors make push for a title this season, Miami gains some future space, young talent and fills the pg hole for years to come and a vet centeer to get them by for a year.

Raptors don't want Shaq's lack of D or crippling contract.

Well by moving Kapono and Ford both 3-4 years remaining, the two years of Shaq's contract isnt so bad especially for a center of his caliber.
Shaq is the best center in the league on both ends when he wants to be and when used correctly, this season Miami was without Wade, got off to a slow start, and Riley is apperently looking for a high draft pick and not feeding the big guy.
Shaq still has it, toronto cant make same mistake they made with Carter in not surrounding Bosh with the talent needed to win a title.
This move makes Toronto instant contenders, while improves Miami's outlook on the future.

+1.
I'm not even sure whether this deal would improve Tornto at all. Sure, Shaq would be an upgrade over Rasho, but 1. Rasho does exactly what the Raptors need him to do, and 2. his contract expires after next season, giving the Raptors salary cap flexibility they wouldn't have by aquiring Shaq.
Kapono is by far the Raptors' best outside shooter, and despite Colangelo overpaid for him he's still pretty useful to the team.
Ford finally, as soon as he gets back on the court, is one of the Raptors best players. Getting Chris Quinn would be nice, but still this deal neither improves the Raptors nor makes much sense for them.

Raps would be lucky to get this deal...Shaq next to Bosh is perfect...Chris Quinn should give the Raptors a better PG than Derrick Martin or w/e they are using right now...
Heat like this deal too...TJ Ford with Wade is deadly...Heat have Dorrell and Daquan in the wings to make a pretty solid core...with their high pick they could draft a SF/C and they'd be gravy...bad thing is how they just traded their pick next year to the T-Wolves...so maybe find a way to get them a 1st and it'd be solid deal...

No for Miami, too. Where, exactly, are the rebuilding pieces?

Shaq next to Bosh is perfect? Neither are good defenders, and would get eaten alive by other teams. I like that idea offensively, but defensively it makes little sense for the Raps. And the Raps have to give up Ford to get Shaq's disgusting contract? Godddd

The thought of dropping TJ's contract is appealing,
But taking on Shaq's broken down body and contract is just not of much interest.

Shaq alone is insufficient to allow Toronto to make a run at a ring...he might give the team a fighting chance in the second round, but that's it. Trading for a guy that might win get the team a round deeper but cripples our cap is simply not worth it.
...and that's working under the assumption that Shaq's presence would be that beneficial. Bosh/Shaq would actually be an awkward pairing, as Bosh thrives off his face-up game from 17ft and in. Stick Shaq in the lane, and his drives are suddenly greeted by quite a bit of traffic.

Shaq has negative trade value. His contract is a nightmare, he can't play defense, and he's a team cancer because he's overweight and doesn't want to work.
Nobody is going to give anything of value for him. Nobody is even going to trade expiring contracts for him.
Shaq might actually have the worst contract in the league right now.

it'd draw the ticket money, but i dunno if it'll get us a series over the celtics or pistons

Further more the Raptors have to make up their mind with TJ and Jose as Jose deal expires this season and a new contract is needed. With Jose's emergence as an all star caliber pg I think the raptors are going to be looking to unload TJ and reup with Jose for the future.
I also disagree that Shaq is finished or out of shape, I watch him play and his body is no different than it has been for the past several years. I personally think the Heat's plan this year after the slwo start and Wades injuries and lack of depth is about tanking this season and getting a top pick. Every game I watch the Heat play and the box scores I check it is clear the Heat are not giving shaq daddy the touches he needs for him and his team top be effective.
Their is deisel left in that tank, the heat just prefer to rebuild at the monent and are ignoring the big man in the post in an effort to go for the #1 pick in the draft.
Toronto maintains its depth in this process and it makes them extremely dangerous over the next two seasons with a perfect combo of Bosh and Shaq up front and Bargnani and Humprhies off the bench.
If you think Shaq wouldnt get up for the Celtics and Pistons in the playoffs you kidding yourself, so you combine him with all that talent of the raps and you got yourself a threat, a serious threat.

As much as I want to get rid of Shaq'z deal, this does not do much for us:
While TJ is talented, he is also a great health risk. On top of that, he needs the ball in his hands to be effective and I am not sure how good his shooting is. Those 2 things do not go very well with DWade.
Kapono is only a role player and does not do much for a rebuilding team, not does Rasho...
From a financial point of view, this is worse for us than Shaq's contract. We would not get significantly under the cap until 2010 anyway, and then, in 2010, that's $12MM less to go after free agents. Kapono and TJ (with his health condition) are not worth it...
