Orlando/Cleveland/Chicago only 5 guys

Post#1 » by DanTown8587 » Wed Jan 23, 2008 9:09 am

Cleveland trades Drew Gooden and Shannon Brown for Joe Smith and Carlos Arroyo.

Chicago trades Joe Smith for Pat Garrity and Orlando #1

Orlando trades Pat Garrity and Carlos Arroyo and #1 08 for Drew Gooden and Shannon Brown

Magic get a legitimate big in Gooden and Brown is an expiring G, so he doesn't kill the depth chart. Plus, Gooden is short term contract, so it doesn't hurt the Magic that bad for next year. They don't mind trading the pick because the two expiring contracts are filled at least by Gooden, so there goes the roster spot.

Nelson/Dooling
Evans/Bogans
Lewis/Hedo
Gooden/Lewis
Dwight/Foyle

Cleveland, getting more offense than I believe they tought Andy could give, does this deal if Marshall is ready to come back and can plays 20-25 minutes a night. This deal makes Arroyo the best PG on the team and Smith is insurance at the 4-5 if Marshall isn't ready or injury.

Arroyo/Gibson/Jones
Hughes/Sasha
LeBron/Brown
Varjeo/Marshall
Big Z/Smith

Chicago does the deal for the late first round pick and Garrity is expiring. No need on the depth chart.

I love this deal for Cleveland. I don't know about it for Chicago. They already have enough players on rookie contracts that they're going to have to pay soon. There's a pretty big drop off in production from Smith to Garrity as well. I don't know how Orlando would feel so I'll leave this one up to guys like MagicFan3 who'd know better than me.

Chicago fans love this cause Smith trades also free up time for TT and Noah more, and getting a first (no matter where) helps the cause. I am curious to see what Magic fans think of this deal.

I think thats really nice work all the way around. Cleveland might be a little light- really depends on what they think of Arroyo.

it's not bad for Orlando aside from they have an even bigger hole at the PG slot now (even though I think Brown is going to be a decent player he's not enough at this time to sooth woes), which might be the only hangup...that and a #1, the would probably want to use another expiring in place of that...I wouldn't do the deal because Gooden is the type of PF Orlando is looking for, we need a 4 that can take the pressure off of Dwight and hit the outside shot on a reliable clip...

idk...i'd still think it over...

Orlando needs a better SG than Brown here.

That Orlando first is worthless to the Bulls and Joe Smith isn't a guy we're eager to simply dump; he's actually productive and not on a cost prohibitive contract.

Arroyo wouldnt start over Hughes in Cleveland so I dont see the point in adding yet another average point guard.

He sure as heck should start over Hughes in Cleveland. Unless the goal is to lose games.

Hughes at least plays defense. Go ahead and check the Cavs record with Larry Hughes starting. Its shockingly good, my friend.
