Miami goes for it all.
This is a plan to let Shaq fight for one last title. This is really for no concern with the future, so if that makes you upset, I'm sorry.
Clippers Trade:
Elton Brand
Corey Maggette
Sam Cassell
Miami Trades:
Ricky Davis
Dorell Wright
Alonzo Mourning's contract
Mark Blount
Udonis Haslem
07 first round draft pick, no protection.
Why for the Clippers:
Miami's pick will likely be in the top 5, so this gives the Clippers a great piece to start rebuilding. A Haslem, Kaman frontcourt is solid and combined with Shaun Livingston, maybe Eric Gordon and Dorell Wright, they have a great starting core for the next ten years. Basically LA gives up any chance of winning now, for a chance at an incredible core down the road. I know this trade a lot of people won't agree with because of Brand, but the Clippers aren't going to win with him right now, so maybe they lose out with the talent but know this gives them a great future.
Why for Miami: The talent Miami receives greatly outweighs what they give up, without the draft pick, this trade isn't even close. So really no reason for Miami to turn it down if they want to try to squeeze one last title out of Shaq.
Trade 2:
Philly Trades
Willie Green
Reggie Evans
Rodney Carney
Miami Trades:
Jason Williams
Smush Parker
Philly gets its 09 2nd rounder back.
Why for Philly:
They get out of 2 long contracts and get a 2nd rounder back. Opens up playing time for more young guys.
Why for Miami: Gives them more depth to make a title run.
Some possible free agent signings for them: Diop, Kwame Brown, Robert Horry, Brent Barry, Kurt Thomas, Jarvis Hayes, Carlos Arryo, etc. I'm sure they could get Horry or Barry for a vet minimum, use all of, or split the mle to get one or two of those players and use the bi-annual exception to round out the roster.
Miami 08-09 potential Lineup
Cassell/Quinn
Wade/Green
Maggette/Carney
Brand/Evans
O'Neal/Free Agent

Why though, that team, if healthy, is by far the best team in the east. Brand takes so much pressure off of Shaq, Shaq wouldn't be hurt as much and would find some new legs with his new freedom. I know it sacrifices a future, but your not that bad off. If Brand comes back 100%, a team built around him and Wade with Maggette as a third option would stay on top of the east for at least the next 5 years.

First of all, we can't trade our pick, but even if we could, why would we trade it for a player who won't be playing this year?
Second of all, both Maggette and Cassell will be free agents after this season, along with Brand. We can't afford to resign them both. We're not going to be a tax team.
Third of all, Evans and Green both will be on the books post-Shaq for a total of about $9 million. They are not worth that.
Finally, it should be apparent that we need to get YOUNGER at the point, but instead we actually get freaking older!
So no, this is not a sure thing for the Heat. I love Maggette and Brand and would love to get them both in Miami, but I'd rather do it by clearing cap room and signing them outright, rather than sacrificing a great lottery pick, being stuck in luxury tax hell, and cutting into our post-Shaq rebuild...

Why in the world would the Clippers make this trade?
If they were going to trade Elton Brand, which they aren't , there is no effing way that they trade him now. If the Clippers decide to rebuild then they should look to make a draft day trade, that way they know exactly what position the pick will be and what player they can get.
If Elton Brand is healthy the Clippers would get much better offers than this and not have to take back a horrible contract like Blount. Not to mention that you also have them moving Corey Maggette, who by himself will have great value this summer in a S&T, assuming they aren't going to resign him.
Bottom line is that this is a horrible trade and would never happen...

Wow, you don't even read before you type, do you?

Shaq, Wade, Brand, Evans, Green, Cook, and Carney, by themselves, are going to earn $61.79 million. That's before resigning either Maggette or Cassell. Maggs alone pushes us well over the tax. Add in Cassell, and we're far over it. I'm assuming you'd also like to carry more than 9 men on the roster, right?

I would do the first one, but there is no reason for LAC to do this... Why should they take on Blount long term salary???
As for the second trade, no way in hell...
If the Clips go to rebuilding mode, the best Miami trade for them would be:
LAC trades Brand, Tim Thomas, and Cutino Mobley
Mia trades 08 #1, JWill, Ricky, Zo, Smush, DWright, and Cook
I personally would do it.

Again the first trade I'd do all day like I said previously and secondly Mickey said he would have no problem going over the luxury tax for the right player! Brand is that player and Maggette fill a need. So..........

This is a more realistic deal, but again, I seriously doubt that the Clippers move Elton Brand. They will certainly look to get some value for Corey Maggette & Sam Cassell at the trade deadline, but Elton is their franchise player. From what I can tell, Donald Sterling is committed to Elton Brand and if EB opted out, Sterling would offer him a max deal.

Brand won't opt out though, so the question then becomes are Cassell and Maggette the right players? The answer is no.
And even then, we'd have only five guys under contract (one of them, Smush) making more than the cap.

Cassell is an expiring contract and if Maggette isn't the player you want he's also an expiring. But locking in Brand is the key here. Who cares about the fall out afterwards? But I'm almost certain the we'd try to resign Maggette in the end.

You do understand that this trade has no chance of ever happening......
So please stop talking about resigning Maggette, because that will not be a problem that your front office will ever face.
I take that back, the Heat could make a decent offer for Maggette alone at the trade deadline, so then they would be in a position to resign him.
But still, no chance to get Brand...

You do realize that almost none of these proposals happens right? So why are you here again?
