Dallas needs a change; what do you have?
Dirk Nowitzki and Devin Harris off limits. Josh Howard only leaves if its in a package to land an upgrade. Bass is close to being off limits because of his skill, age & salary, but can be had if the price is right.
All else, fair game.
What do you have?
Note: Not a firesale, just we need a change and PG is not the position that needs to be changed.

If I could answer that, I would be GM. All I know is we look great with Harris running the point and we look like a high school team without Harris.DGrangeRx33 wrote:What do you need? Pacers need a change too.
We have been saying all year that a starting caliber SG/SF to pair with Howard is a need. Also an upgrade at center, though center is not our biggest need (I don't think, at least).
JO would be great, but I'm afraid there is probably nothing we have that you would want for him.
Dunleavy's passing & scoring would help, but we want more 2-way players and less offensive/defensive specialists.
Any suggestions?

I know we went through this during the summer, so we don't really need to go through it again, but Harris is more critical to this team than Howard, though I still think Howard is vital to the team.ss_maverick wrote:Howard is our 3rd best player?????????????
"Step away from your crack dealer..."
And on the recent poll of over 4,000 mav fans, 37% of us said Harris was our MVP thus far compared to 33% for Howard and 30% for Dirk. And I voted Dirk on that poll due to his improvement on assists & on the defensive end. So apparently, you are in the minority, even though I know that is your favorite mav.
I think you need to step away from your crack dealer.

I'm not sure how ya'll value George, but what do you think of this?
Mike Dunleavy
Ike Diogu
David Harrison
for
Jerry Stackhouse
Maurice Ager
Devean George
Reshawn Terry
2008 First Round Pick
I'm not sure if I can sell this idea to Pacer fans but it makes sense to me(then again its almost 3 A.M.).
Pacers are starting to bomb this season anyway. This helps us get some cap space and a few young role players for the future.

I, personally, would do Ager & Stack for Dunleavy, but I'm sure Avery's mancrush on Stack would null that. We don't need Diogu with Bass. Or Harrison with Diop (Harrison better offense & Diop better defense). R. Terry and the 1st would probably make most mav fans lean towards the no side.
I'd do Tinsley + Dunleavy for J. Terry + Stack (or Hassell) + 2008 1st as well.

DEAL!!!
Terry has a long contract too but he's probably a better fit in JOB's system over Tinsley, while Hassell (whom I prefer over Stackhouse) provides perimeter defense on the wings.
Parting with Dunleavy will hurt, but I guess that's the price to get rid of Tinsley. Would Dallas fans do it with Murphy instead of Dunleavy?

JES and I disagree on alot, but his comment about Harris being our 2nd best player, I agree. Dallas needs a change, and Dirk and Harris are the building blocks, Howard is a good player, but the sg/sf position is the easiest to replace. Dalals needs his toughness no doubt, but how thta man disappears every second half is beyond me. IMO, Terry has to go asap, stack can go if the deal is right, howard if the deal is great.
Oomph, no disrespect, no chance in hell dallas ever takes troy murphy in any deal.
Hopefully we do something, Id love to see Artest in a Mavs uniform, like that 3 way with Orl someone posted where they get TErry, Sac gets cap relief. My question is can Josh play the 2, if he cant, would it be worth moving him to get a more fundamental 2 guard.

Trade 1:
Portland:
James Jones
Dallas:
Devin George
2nd Rounder
George is expiring, so Portland might do it (even without the 2nd)
Trade 2:
Toronto:
Anthony Parker
Kris Humphries
Joey Graham(Filler)
Dallas:
First Rounder '08
Diop
Stackhouse
Toronto loses two bad contracts (at least Graham), gets good value for Parker
If thats not enough, what would Dallas have to add Toronto fans?
[edit:] I think thats way overpaying for Parker, i would rather keep Diop out .... idk
Lineup:
Dampier/Bass
Dirk/Juwan/Bass
Josh/JJones/Hassell
Parker/EJones/Hassell
Harris/Terry

I didn't realize the Mavs were so high on Reshawn Terry, and the 1st would be bottom of the 1st round. We could leave out R. Terry and salaries would still match.
I just wanted him because I'm a Tar Heel fan. :-p

It's not so much being high on the pick or R. Terry, its more the fact that Stack and Dunleavy is almost a wash. Dunleavy plays about 1.5 times as much as Stack and stats are not to far off when they are per min. Dunleavy still has more points, he has a sizeable difference in reb, but Stack is the better passer with more ast & less TOs. And Stack has played better defense this year than last year and he also makes the timely shots though his %'s are awful (compared to Mike).DGrangeRx33 wrote:I didn't realize the Mavs were so high on Reshawn Terry, and the 1st would be bottom of the 1st round. So when those two, overall, may be a wash, throwing in extra's would tilt it to a no.
As for R. Terry, many of us (myself included) wanted him in our uniform this year and were uspest that management wanted him to go to Europe. I think he can have a Travis Outlaw type career and that may be the piece we really need next to Howard.
So would you do the Dunleavy + Tinsley for J. Terry + Hassell + 1st deal? Stack is still avialable in that package, but Oomph liked the better defender and lower contract of Hassell.
Edit: BTW, during the summer, I would not even do a MD + JT + Indy 1st for JT & JS, but JT and MD have increased their trade value this season enough for me to not only do the deal, but add a Mav pick even though I would be worried about them reverting to their 2006-07 form.
