As a Portland fan I do this in a heartbeat, however it wont happen. No way we get the number 4 pick AND Miller in the same trade. Miller would have to be taken out, he is too talented to be filler in any trade IMO. I would even do this trade if Miller was exchanged with Cardinal, thats how good I think Mayo will be and how good he would be alongside Roy in Portland.

You Portland fans are quickly becoming some of the more homer posters on this board. Swap Mike Miller with Cardinal and then it might be a deal. Jarrett Jack and Channing Frye have very little value to other teams in this league, so you aren't going to make a huge move up in the draft AND get the best player in the deal by far in one trade.
It is time. Time for Blazers fans to put down teh crack pipe.

I think trading Cardinal is harder then you guys think. Your managements plan was to cut salary as much as possible while getting younger and still being competitive.

Webster, Frye, #12 to me = moving up about 6 spots to grab Mayo. Webster would be a good fit next to Rudy Gay and Conley. Webster has more upside then probably any of the SGs you could draft between 5-10 and hes only 21.

Lafrentz and a future pick to me is worth Miller+Cardinal for the simple fact that its going to be near impossible to move that guys worthless contract in his last year. It also saves Memphis approx 16 million dollars that year.

The trade is based on the view of savings. I don't think any Memphis fans would have done the Gasol trade if it was up to them...

You're right trading Cardinal may be harder than we think, but he is not the reason that this team sucks. His $6mil/year deal is only a small part of what is wrong with this team. Giving away a top 5-6 draft pick and MMiller just to move his contract would only further perpetuate the problems with this team. The Grizz's big 'cost cutting' move was the Gasol deal. Now any deal made must be looked at as improving the team, and this deal doesn't even begin to improve the team.

The trade MIGHT tempt Memphis if Cardinal is substituted for Collins, but I'm still not sure about that. Absolutely no way it flies in its original version.

How about now? I removed Martell Webster from the deal and substituted Cardinal for Mike Miller...

Memphis is not going to move down in the draft without getting significant talent back. Plus this deal doesn't help the Grizz's cap number this summer (don't tell me how it helps next year... none of those players are coming to the Grizz).

Yeah this is a pretty bad trade for the Grizzlies. No way is that enough to move down 8 spots in the draft

This deal definitely sucks for the Grizzlies. From a Blazer fan, I'd be willing to do it without Miller and with Martell included.

On another note, how about this scenario?:

Portland Trades:
Travis Outlaw
Raef LaFrentz
Jarret Jack

Memphis trades:
Brian Cardinal
Jarron Collins
Kyle Lowry
#4-6 pick

Portland takes on Brian Cardinal's deal while providing Portland with a top pick in the draft to get a combo guard that will fit our system. Portland also gets Lowry who's role seems to be dwindling on the Grizzlies with the arrival of Crittenton. Memphis gets a young up-and-coming player in Outlaw and a player that could be successful playing a different role on Memphis.

Again the Grizz manage to give up the pick and get back a player that is worse than what we could pick at #4-6. And we manage to trade one PG for what??? ANOTHER PG???

I don't think Memphis is going to find someone willing to take Cardinal. The price is too steep!

This is just getting stupid.
