I'm not sure Phoenix does this but their ownership / management wasn't in love with picks in the past anyway. Other then the Phoenix part i think every side does it .

Barbosa + 2 picks for Jax is too much. Let PHX keep their first.

Even as a GS fan I would agree. Barbosa is within a 2nd of Jackson, and Critt + 2 1sts + some immediate salary reduction for Jackson is likely above market value. As GS doesn't really need the immediate salary reduction perhaps a short term salary could be added going to GS from some team (with a late 1st or 2nd round pick(s) added if the player is mostly dead weight at this point).

Without Diaw and Harrington in the deal, I thought PHX fans might say this. I'm glad to hear agreement on the issue, so I will remove it from the deal.
Now though, it will seem just a bit slanted in PHX's favor. If someone kicks a "short term salary" GSW's way, I think PHX should pony up the amount it would cost the Warriors to buy him out.

Seems like NJ and Memphis could just be cut out, or make their own deal, if they like, and just make it a Jackson for Barbosa swap. Maybe some small filler on either side, I dunno how each team values those guys, but I think Barbosa would fill in better than Critt for Ellis. Especially since in the depth chart, Critt is on the bench, so they just dumped Jackson for a backup PG, and their own pick back. After Ellis' return, I can't imagine them starting together, because of how small the backcourt would be, but one would be on the court at all times, which makes for 48 minutes of hell for opposing PGs trying to play defnse.

Ellis is out for 3-4 months, he's not dead. You think it's wise to replace him with an eerily similar player who's making above-MLE $? For the next 4 years, the Warriors would be paying a combined $18mil per year for two players who would be so redundant that they would hardly be able to manage being on the court at the same time.
You make it sound like getting their own pick back is a bad thing, or should worth less than someone else's. If the Warriors really are going into a youth movement, getting their own picks back is one of the smartest things Mullin could do. But if you really want, PHX would be more than happy to give you their own future 2nd, and NJN would gladly give their own future 1st, with the same protection as was placed on yours.

In any case, Jackson can't net a 1st, a 2nd, cap savings and a bona fide starter. Critt could end up playing ahead of Marcus in this scenario (he fits GSW better IMO), but I put Williams ahead of him since he's older.

From the Suns POV, the complete deal looks good, as well as just doing a Jax for Barbs and GSW 2nd.

This is possibly the best trade I've seen you post Ecuhus. This is a very solid deal for every team and actually seems quite realistic. I'd have to say all 4 GMs would consider this deal for very different reasons.

Re: Stripped-Down 4-way: Warriors, Suns, Grizzlies and Nets
I have to say that from a Memphis standpoint it's one of the more recent trade proposals that has made sense. It's tough to give up 3 young promising players but you have to give something to get something, and this does a couple of good things for the Grizzlies.
Williams fills a need for sure, and is of the same age group as the Grizzlies core that can grow together. An inside presence on defence is what they need. Barbosa fits in with a combo role, is still young but has deep playoff experience, and joins up with his former coach from Phoenix, who supposedly wants to instill the Suns fast paced style, which Barbosa embodies.
Sorry I haven't given alot of thought to the other teams needs in this, but it makes sense for Memphis.

Is GSW that open in trading Jackson? I thought he's very important to their team. If he's on the market I think a lot of teams will be interested and can offer more than Crittenton.

More than Crittenton, a pick and 14 million of savings for a team that has recently signed longterm a player pretty similar (Maggete) and that unfortunately is not going anywhere this year (see monta´s injury) ?
I think this trade would open the 3 spot for Anthony Randolph, inmediate save them 14 million and get a very good young combo guard still on a rookie contract that could play big minutes along Monta when hes back.

Jackson for Crittenton....how does that work in the trade checker?
Also, that GS 1st rd'er that we sent to NJ isn't all that valuable. It is heavily protected for several years:
Not such an enticement.
Also, that GS 1st rd'er that we sent to NJ isn't all that valuable. It is heavily protected for several years:
The Warriors keep their first-round pick for the next two years. According to the Nets' Web site, New Jersey could get the Warriors pick in 2011 if it is not a lottery pick. If it is, the Nets would get the Warriors' pick in 2012, provided it's not a top-11 pick. If it is, the Nets' would then get the Warriors' pick in 2013 as long as it's not a top-10 selection.
Should the Nets not get any of those picks, they would receive the Warriors' second round picks in 2013 and 2015.
Not such an enticement.

kindly explain your reasons behind turning this offer down, I admit it's not the best of offers, but I believe it's a better package.
