Denver Trade Breakdown

Incoming Players
Maceo Baston
Jamaal Tinsley
Marquis Daniels
Troy Murphy

Outgoing Players
Chucky Atkins
Steven Hunter
Kenyon Martin

Indiana Trade Breakdown

Incoming Players
Chucky Atkins
Steven Hunter
Kenyon Martin

Outgoing Players
Maceo Baston
Jamaal Tinsley
Marquis Daniels
Troy Murphy

Denver needs a bit more incentive for taking on Tinsley and with this expanded trade they get that in the expiring contracts of Daniels + Baston. By trading Kmart the Nuggets won't get too much extra salary in 2011 as both Murphy and Tinsley's contracts expire in the same year as Kmart.
And with Murphy's shooting range the Nuggets open up the lane for the other guys, while Daniels is a solid wing defender and Baston adds to their frontcourt depth.

Indiana solves the problem with their overcrowded roster with this deal and with Kmart they get a PF who improves their defense. He also looks to be a great fit on offense too, especially with TJ on the break.

I think if you replace Daniels and Baston with Rasho or Foster it's a pretty good deal. Otherwise this just makes the Nuggets frontcourt worse, while adding about $4M in payroll this year. After trading away Camby for cap relief, I can't really see them making that move.

Either that, or maybe remove Daniels, Baston and Hunter altogether.

There are rumblings (again) that a deal may happen early next week. Wait to see what falls out before you offer to take Kenyon Martin ;)

I could be convinced to do a Tinsley + Murphy for K-Mart deal. However, if that went down, why would we then offer to trade expiring contracts in Daniels and Baston for Hunter and Atkins?

Or, conversely, if we could possibly get Hunter + Atkins for Tinsley, why would we then take on a lot more money by swapping Murphy and an expiring in Daniels for K-Mart?

I HIGHLY doubt Denver would do that, as they would be taking on additional salary now and in the future. They've been trying to cut costs, and this would definitely be contradictory towards that goal.

With that said, I have been more open to doing a Tinsley and Murphy for K-Mart and Atkins/Hunter trade. Preferably Hunter, though. I think K-Mart would be a nice upgrade over Murph defensively, and he would be a nice fit with Ford and all the other pieces we have. The only problem is the possible negative influence he'd have on guys like Granger, Rush, Hibbert, etc. We don't need anything like that anymore, and that's exactly what we've been getting away from the past 3-4 years.
