Not good at all for Minnesota. They trade the best player in the deal, take on a poor contract, trade two late firsts to move up 13 spots in the draft. Dallas makes out the best. The trade is also good for the Wizards if their goal is to shed salary.

I can live w/ this trade as a MN fan. It'd be nice if we could skip Shawne Williams though, we kinda need the roster spots.

Yeah, I could handle that from Minnesota's side. getting 1 for 2 on the 1st rounders frees up 1 spot, and williams is expiring.

No thanks from the Wiz... They're looking to make one final push with their core group and by all accounts want to use the fifth and a young guy/expiring or two to upgrade. This doesn't get it done.

If I'm WAS I'd prefer getting Miller + TPE + Move one 2010 contract to lessen tax this year and produce more flexible cap space in 2010 . Theres plenty of opinion on WAS whether Miller is a solid fit for what they need as people simply look at Millers stats this year and assume he sucks because of his PPG decline, but overall he played extremely well if you watched the wolves. Especially during the last few months when he played point forward with Al out, he was roughly 10\7\6.

MIN gets the best of this deal. DAL is offering Shawne and Stack to the Wolves for Miller; now they take on Darius too, with zero compensation???

I agree that Williams should go to WAS instead, but it's still too good for Minny.

This is terrible, it has been established that Stack + S Williams is fair value for Mike Miller. We don't want Songaila's turd of a contract.

I don't understand, are you saying Stack and Shawne alone are enough for Miller? MN would have nothing to do with that

It's not so much losing their production (or lack thereof) and contracts as it is not turning the 5th into a starting caliber player. Can value be found in the 18th and 28th? Absolutely! I like Lawson, Blair, Williams -- a bunch of guys that might slip or be found in the middle-to-end of the round. But it still doesn't improve us for this year (or next). We might have an improved bench by the end of the season, but barring any other trades, our starting line-up is the same. Good enough to get us into the playoffs and knocked out in the first round.

I'd rather just sit tight and draft Harden or Curry than take this deal.

If we trade back into the middle to late rounds, I wouldn't mind seeing a Hinrich-level type guy coming back to us.

The fifth plus a guy like Young or Blatch plus an expriring should net us something of immediate value while retaining some talent to grow (Dom, Blatche/Young - whoever is kept, McGuire, etc.).

Yeah, Dallas is not taking on 2 years of a guy we don't want for one year of a guy we kinda sorta maybe want....as a plan K or somthing far away from A, B and C.


Dallas easily passes on this deal. And LOL at the poster that said "Dallas makes out the best" when, in fact, the team he thinks gets the shaft ends up making out the best.

Oh, and if Washington's in/out is agreeable to their owner, Dallas will just buy New Orlean's pick and give them Stack, #21 and #22 for Hill, Stevenson and Songalia. Cut Minnesota completely out.

I agree, the Wiz definitely do this deal if for no other reason than to cut salary with the $5 mill unguaranteed on Stackhouse's contract. They also get an opportunity to either move #18 and #28 or use them on a couple of young guys who'll be making pennies on their rookie contracts

No, the Wiz would not do this. And, there is ZERO chance Minny gets a lotto pick out of Mike "I can't guard anyone not in the WNBA" Miller while putting up LESS than 10ppg in 30+ mins.

Try watching Miller play. And this from the guy who thinks Hinrich is worth a king's ransom for above average defense and not much else.

they're not getting a lotto pick out of Mike Miller, they're moving up 13 spots by trading a productive expiring before the most stacked free agency period in NBA history that also happens to coincide with the most economically troubling time in NBA history while taking back a lame contract.

You can't avoid all the facts just to try and futilely blind people to the reality of the situation and justify your spastic post.

Does Mike Miller make the Wizards a team that can contend with Cleveland/Orlando/Boston, or does it set them up for the future if we can't? No and no.

And stop overrating 2010. Most FAs stay with their teams.
