Bucks Get:
Carlos Boozer (Expiring)
Give: Joe Alexander, Luke Ridnour, Malik Allen, Francisco Elson, 2011 2nd Round Pick
Clippers Get:
Luke Ridnour (Expiring)
Give: $7.3 Million TPE
Jazz Get:
$7.3 Million TPE
Joe Alexander
Malik Allen (Expiring)
Francisco Elson (Expiring)
2nd Round Pick via Milwaukee
Give: Carlos Boozer
Bucks get a low post scorer and have a chance for a playoff run with a healthy roster.
- Sessions/Redd/Bowen/Boozer/Bogut
Clippers pick up a backup PG with an expiring contract with their newly acquired TPE.
- Davis/Gordon/Thornton/Griffin/Kaman
Jazz clear space and cash to sign Millsap. Allen is a good role player, Alexander a project.
- Williams/Brewer/Kirilenko/Millsap/Okur

I don't think it works, because LA would have to trade the TPE straight up for Ridnour, but then it would have to be dealt to the Jazz in a package, and you can't trade the TPE in a package, I don't think.

The Jazz would only trade Boozer for a player that helps now. He is already expiring, and the chance of a sign and trade next year is better than 100% Joe Alexander. Thing is, while Boozer isn't so much a long term guy anymore, he will have a good contract year.

If thats the case Milwaukee will glady take a TPE for Ridnour.

I'd rather use the TPE to get a solid SF and try to dump Thornton for a PG

I thought you cannot package the TPE in a trade.
The Bucks trade Jefferson for nearly nothing, and that trade with the Spurs proves that their cost cutting and rebuilding. Then it makes no sense to do this trade especially with Joe Alexander in it. If they in need of a PF, they could have retain CV instead, thats why its another reason I think they will not do this trade.

I dont see the trade happening.
Keeping CV and Sessions for MLE deals would have put us into the luxury tax. No way I would've given him what Detroit did anyways. The R-Jeff deal was a cost cutting move but not a full blown rebuild IMO. Boozer would fit great next to Bogut but he'd almost certainly walk after a year which concerns me.

But it doesn't change the fact that the trade doesn't work. The only way the Bucks could get Boozer is if the salaries matched, no TPE. And I don't see the Jazz doing that because it doesn't solve their salary situation.

Wrong. The Bucks' part works under the 125% rule.
The Clippers' part works because they use their TPE.
The Jazz' part works because they take in less salary than they send out. It's a perfectly legal trade, technically.

But the TPE has to be traded straight up I thought, so how could the Bucks trade 5.7 to the Jazz and take 12.3 back.

TPEs aren't traded per se; they're used and created. It's not an object that gets moved like a draft pick or a player's rights. The Clips
use their TPE to absorb Ridnour; the Jazz
receive a NEW TPE by taking back less salary than they send out.
(If it helps you visualize it better, imagine that the Bucks and Jazz make a trade, then the Jazz trade Ridnour to the Clips and take nothing back. That works too.)

Oh, gotcha. For some reason I was picturing it the other way around, where the Clips traded the TPE for Ridnour, then the Utah/MIL trade happened. My bad.

Technically.....this is legit.
The Bucks trade Ridenour for nothing. The Clip USE the TPE as intended..to take Ridenour.
THAT...means the Buck's outgoing $ and Incoming $ match up and the Jazz takes IN less than they send out...so a NEW TPE is generated for Utah.
You don't really "trade" a TPE

The Bucks are trading $12,083,360 million.
Ridnour $6,500,000
Alexander $2,583,360
Allen $1,300,000
Elson $1,700,000
If the Clippers are cool with this trade, then I like it for every team.

The Clippers wouldn't be interested in using the TPE on Ridnour, they are paying enough salary to Davis already and Mike Taylor works as a backup.
