Forgive me if this has been done before.

What teams would be truly desperate for this kid? If the ping-pong balls don't fall their way come mid-May, what would the offers be?

Impossible to make this thread until we know how the lottery plays out. A lot of the offers for the #1 pick will depends on how the top 3 picks are distributed.

Nobody will trade him, only chance would be to make a very good offer before the lottery when teams would still be willing to trade a chance at him.

Even if Utah wins the lottery they won't trade John Wall. They will either try to play Deron Williams and him together or trade Deron.

Only teams close enough to the bottom, desperate enough for Wall imo are:

Philly (pick+Young or Speights)
Washington (pick+[nothing worth Wall])
Detroit (pick+Stuckey)
Indy (pick+Hibbert)

I doubt the rest of the teams (NJ, Minny, GS) would give valuable assets when they are pretty set at that position. They'd be better off adding to their cores then selling all for Wall.

You're overrating John Wall. Deron is one of the best PG's in the NBA. Still relatively young. Why the hell would Utah trade him in hopes that Wall is a superstar. Wall is definitely a possible trade piece.

No I am not, you can bet your house on that. John Wall is a much better prospect than Deron and will easily surpass him.

This very same discussion was on ESPN Radio with Bill Simmons and Chad Ford already and Ford said that basically any team in the league would keep the #1 pick and draft Wall and trade whatever they had.

The #1 pick won't be traded since John Wall is the best #1 pick prospect since Lebron James.

That would be a terrible idea before the fact. Elite players > elite prospects. I for one (as a Jazz fan) would keep them both for a while. Either Wall shows me that he's good enough to supplant Deron (then I trade Deron) or he doesn't (then I trade Wall). I certainly don't trade Deron based on potential until after I find out what Wall can do.

I've seen wall play 5 or 6 times this season. Hes certainly not the best prospect since Lebron James; thats complete hype. He'll probably measure out at 6'1 to being with, and his outside shooting has been a mess. Hes a good prospect and will probably go #1 in this draft, but I bet Portland would have taken oden (or even Durant as a prospect) over him.

If he doesn't have a good tournament he could potentially not be much better than derrick rose pre draft stock wise.

All I'm going to say is that if any team takes Wall and they dont need him they could trade his rights

Example: Detroit picks Wall then they trade his rights to ____ for players/rights to ____/cash

That would be a better than just taking one of Favors/Cousins/Davis

Always take the BPA

But nobody is going to do that, nobody will trade Wall unless Lebron was offered.

The only way Wall could realistically be traded is if he pulls a Steve Francis.

Luckily you are not Detroit's GM. Wow to think that you would honestly think that Stuckey+whatever other player in the 2010 draft is even CLOSE to John Wall.

Stuckey & Evan Turner is better than John Wall alone IMO but there is no other better combination IMO. This a superstars league- Wall likely is a superstar- Stuckey isn't and no one else aside from Turner comes close IMO.

But no team that lands Wall will trade him really. I can see Utah maybe trading down for Turner but they are the only team that would be justified in doing that. Any other team would be out of their mind

Holy crap, I've watched John Wall play. I have been extremely impressed, but he is being SOOOOO overrated in this thread. Amazing, like on epic proportions.
