OKC did that with Harden, by trading him for KMart/etc. that was a bad idea.

Not saying Herro is Harden in the making, but when you have this many pieces in place (Jimmy/Bam/Herro/Lowry) you only ship one of them out for an upgrade.

But what if Miami doesn't want to pay him the MAX? I'm not sure they want to give him a 4 year $150 million contract. I think it makes a lot more sense to move on from him for someone locked into a cheaper deal than it does to let him go for nothing in FA. He's one of those players that is not really worth the max because he scores a bunch but his defense isn't there. But he'll still get paid the max by someone. If would maybe be a different story if they could send out a pick to have someone take Duncan Robinson's contract but in reality that 4 year $150 max contract could end up costing Miami $300 or $400 million when factoring luxury tax payments.

That's not accurate.

First, we'd only be in luxury tax territory for one season. Lowry expires a year after Herro's extension kicks in.

Second, the cap is set to go up considerably with the next CBA, giving us more wiggle room.

The next CBA doesn't start next offseason. Also this is not factoring all our other players waiting to get paid, so to say we would be in the luxury tax territory for one season is not realistic unfortunately and seeing now adverse we are to paying the tax, would anyone be surprise if we lose him for nothing this offseason?

Spending 180 million on a geriatric pg and a non shooting 3pt player and then possibly losing our only bright young player, thats Knicks territory guys

If the in season tournament starts next season then the cap will increase by more than currently forecast even without a new CBA.

Bam elite?

I don't know. Seems to me they played better without the redundancy of Kawhi/George. Anyways, whatever.

I know he hasn’t met expectations this season so far but he’s averaging and efficient 19-10-3 while being a top 5 defender in the league lol. Trust me I’d love 24-12 from him every night and he can definitely do that but they haven’t drilled that into his head yet apparently. He’s only 24. He’s an all star and top 5 at his position. **** only centers that are better imo are Embiid and Jokic unless I’m forgetting someone.

I like Bam but I don't see him making an elite defensive impact. His blocks are at an all time low, he only avgs 1 steal per game. He rebounds ok but he is hardly Ben Wallace. I think he needs help.

Bams not a top center. Hes not even a center.

Whiteside racked up blocks like crazy. Rodman put up basically no defensive stats. Which one was a better defender?

Bam can cover 1-5 as well as an player in the league, and as a previous poster noted he holds them to a league low FG%. He was 8th in defensive BPM without getting many steals or blocks. He is top notch defender.

His tendency to be passive on offense is his biggest problem.
