On the bright side Herro is getting better at assists and strangely was tied as our leading rebounder.

I am actually excited, because while I was on the tank bandwagon the type of game I just witnessed that we played tonight wins out against the other 28 or so NBA teams in the league. Which Means if we can continue to get better, I can see us being a very deadly 2nd/3rd seed by end of season going into the playoffs.

This version of Bam is just starting to take off, he did better than I though he would against the Celtics, which means the growth is real. I am not gonna go full tilt on the Bam wagon just yet, because ultimately we want to keep seeing him get better. But while I used to call him an opportunist scorer, I think with his short jumper getting better and his quick drives with off hands layups looking better this could be an amazing season from him.

However in the end, health is our biggest detractor, we will not survive a full season playing such a limited short rotation, our guys will start to break down come the end of the year. Surprised Lowry hasn't lost a leg or arm in one of his efforts trying to get over a screen.

I wonder how we would look with Yurtseven in the rotation. Oh well.

Yea honestly I’m annoyed as hell over officiating but looking with an open mind there’s a lot of positives to take from tonight.

Get healthy and fix the roster and we’re good to go

He is our 2nd best defender but in my opinion he has been slipping on defense this year

Well, the defense is different this year.

We have pulled Caleb and Jimmy from the front of the zone to the back of the zone.

I don't know if that is game planning, or baptism by fire for new guys or what.

Tyler is at his best on defense when he picks up a defender in the middle at the top of the 3 point line. His recovery speed is probably his best tool and he can shut down to turn drives into Bam. I guess it is just the easiest place to provide help to him.

But,

The team seems to me to be better when Caleb is in the middle, and picks his guy up at half court. He is likely the only guy on defense that really bothers shifty ball handlers. Caleb would be a lights out defensive 2.

When Jimmy and Caleb are outside, they make turnovers. I guess this move is the lack of a real 4.

I don't think the heat were prepared for Yurt going down. I really do think they expected a Yurt/bam combo with Caleb as a sometime 4 until Jovic was ready. Maybe by the end of the season, we will have Yurt/Dedmond/Bam/Jovic font court combos.

I wonder if that is growth or he does not trust his ankle or knee or whatever broke on him.

I like it too.

The team has been crisper on the passes this year, and leading people open better then last year.

I really like the lack of turnover inducing full court Hail Mary passes.

Need Oladipo to return asap as well. He's probably our best perimeter defender behind Butler.

Tonight made me wonder what happened to our ability to block shots. When is the last time you saw a help block from weakside help defender?

Bam is 48th in blocks per game. 48th. I'm wondering what our defensive identity is because its not Bam protecting the rim.

The first year without Whiteside 19-20 season Bam was 22nd in blocks. then 46th (20-21), then 66th (21-22), now currently 48th.

So outside of the bubble season (19-20) with that iconic block on Tatum, we have completely changed the use of Bam as that defensive stopper and rim protector.

As an organization we have completely gone away from protecting the basket. Since 19-20 this small ball has taken over. We were not bubble frauds, we were just a better team with a better defensive philosophy.
1. Herro 2. Bol Bol 3. Seko 4. Bruno
unless we trade up for Barrett or trade down for PJ Washington

Miami played better than expected, at least what I thought they would do. If I wasn't a fan I would have bet Boston cover the 10 but wasn't going to root for my team to lose. Give some credit, this team fought hard and never gave up, especially after that crazy start where it looked like this game would be a blowout.

Bam showed up, Herro was able to ball out too, Highsmith had a good game, and Caleb still plays well too.

FT disparity was a joke this game, a loss is a loss but this was one I didnt expect to win and they played well. I can deal with that. Without a good trade though, this team will be a second round exit.
