I don't have the exact quotes but he emphasized the importance of nailing picks now since tax penalties are so draconian and picks are cheap labor relatively speaking. Sounds like we're drafting a guy who can contribute immediately.

This is what I wanted to here and what I assumed with the cheap labor with us being so close with the tax. Doesn’t mean we are picking at 18 though. Could mean trading out and needing to nail the 2nd rd picks. Jett Howard still sounds like a fave to be picked by this organization and potential replacement for Strus and Robinson for that matter if they do keep it.

Getting someone like Lillard would be great as long as it doesn't weaken the team to get such a player. No point in getting a big name and being a worse team.
Getting someone like Beal is reckless. It hurts the team's abilities to make moves later, potentially for years, for someone that ain't that good.
Making smaller moves to improve an already title contender is realistic and he'd be happy if that is all that can be accomplished.
Blowing it up ain't happening.
Talked good stuff about Tyler since he's on the team and people throwing his name around as trade bait.

If by "smaller" moves, Pat means someone like Porzingis or some other legit upgrade at the 4 and stuff like that, then yeah

But I still feel we need scoring.

Riley: “Herro is a one dimensional inefficient chucker who I can’t wait to trade”

Riley 2 days later: “hey Pop you care to send 2 1st for Herro? Would be a great addition to Keldon and Wemby”

Smaller moves don’t mean adding max salaried players that compound our cap and take us into the apron next year. KP is not coming here to be a one year player.

Bruh.

In 2005, Wade got the freak rib injury in the ECF. Everyone knew if no freak injury, Heat go to Finals and possibly beat the Spurs.

Did Pat say, "Subtle moves is enough, we have enough to win"

NO

Pat traded Eddie Jones, Damon Jones, grabbed Jason Williams, James Posey, Antoine Walker, Gary Payton....

damn near traded half the team and made us even stronger

I am convinced Pat is done. He needs to retire. He's not hungry anymore. Wade-Lebron-Bosh Big 3 made him fat and happy.

We needed big change after last year's ECF. We need big change now. But he's laid back and waiting for the right trade, or else "run it back"

Okay Pat time to retire. I'm serious!

So you rather him just throw away the little assets we have for anyone? When that doesn't work where will that leave us? We made the ECF last year and I think I've also seen you say we loss this finals because Jimmy had a bad ankle.

And we lost in 2005 because Wade had a freak rib injury.... Did that stop Riley from making upgrades to put us over the top a few months later??

Hey, if ya'll are content with losing in the Finals or ECF every year, we can be the Buffalo Bills of the NBA

I was told by some that the Buffalo Bills are a success story by some. Making it to the Super Bowl is a great accomplishment. Sure they lost ever time three times in a row but they where a success right? We current have a 0-2 record in the finals post Wade.

"Think better then Devin Booker."

I wish someone would post that video of Riley talking about Herro not needing to play defense because he's so great at offense.

Maybe you should stop thinking the organization is playing 2k where moves can happen every time. You also have to give out good players who helped you make those runs to get back good players also. It's not that easy to just upgrade.

He views Herro like he does Bam. I know I know it’s tough. He mentions them both frequently. Maybe he was selling Bam high too no? Lol

That teams closer to a window of championship than this team is.

We were an 8 seed. Don’t get blinded by the championship run

Patently wrong. But I know you're the class of fan that thinks Bam is essentially a replacement level big man, so I can't take what you post too seriously.

I see a lot of value in Bam, and what he brings in the P&R game, how he anchors our defense, all that.

However, he constantly gets dominated by bigger centers, has a very passive/inconsistent offensive game, and has disappeared in big moments. I also Hate his fake aggressive-energy bring the ball up the court and then stop doing anything.

I love Bam, I just Think it’s naive not to consider any trades that could bring us a star player (which I believe Scoot can be) and multiple assets.

He’s not a top top level offensive star, which is something you need out of your max guys to win a championship in this league.

That doesn’t mean he’s not a max player. If you had a guy like Lillard or KD, Bams value rises TREMENDOUSLY and he’s worth every penny . But Bam/Jimmy as your 2 best players is somewhat redundant if you don’t have a true scorer. And Herro is not that guy (not to mention Jimmy/Herro’s falling out making things weird around Herro).

That all changes once Bam learns a consistent jump shot, Ala KG (who needed 2 real all-time scorers to win a ring)

I’m not content struggling to get over 95 in the biggest games

I don't think we should underestimate how much Jimmy might like this core either. I think Pat's quote that he would like to get Butler-- him only and specifically--more support was very important to pay attention to. This along with him calling it the Jimmy era. I think it is very possible that Jimmy is being consulted in all this and he feels comfortable with Bam/Herro but wants better depth. I think we can all agree a SL with Strus and Gabe Vincent and no PF/C is not going to cut it.

I tend to agree, but wish the moves would have been made last year.
