Pretty soon, son, I'm taking the second round pick off the table, and you can just take Lowry by himself.

Yes, of course, it is! Do you know why?

Because that's a legit chance at a championship! You give up whatever you have to for a championship! Did we whine about the future when we traded Odom, Butler, and a first (plus Brian Grant) for Shaq?

Were we concerned about the following seasons when we gave up first rounders and every player on the roster other than Mario Chalmers(!!!!!!!) to get LeBron and Bosh?

Hell no! Because championships are why you play this game and if, to get one, you give up a few years, so be it!

“You make the trade and never look back”… how about looking ahead. You address how you may fill out the roster this year to make us competitive for the 23/24 season… but how about the 24/25 season… 25/26 season as Butler and Dame are running out of steam... 26/27 when Butler and Bam expire yet we don’t have money to bring in any new high quality blood cause we are still near or over the cap due to Dame’s 36 y/o self making $63mil. Maybe some of our draft picks could help us because they have gotten good… or maybe we can make a trade with another team involving the kids and draft picks… but wait we sent out all our good assets in the “make the trade and never look back” scenario.

You look at the Larry O'Brien Trophy sitting in the case in the hallway, and you say, "It was worth it!"

And even at this point, Dame's deal by itself won't be putting us at or above the cap, especially without Bam and Butler.

It’s easier to make the deal when we are being shortsighted about the possible ripples from this trade. We have loved many years of not having enough assets to help Butler compete because of similar shortsighted moves for the instant gratification. I, for one, have been frustrated that Pat has not been able to make a single quality upgrade since the Dragic trade and then the Butler trade… but I recognize that it was the poor asset management over the years that made our cupboard bare enough that we just couldn’t be players in the market.

Here we are again… looking to repeat history for an aging guard making bank!!!

LOL! You're just not even thinking right. Asset management. You know who worries about asset management? Losers! You want The Process? They can't even get out of the second round! Let's not be ridiculous, here! All those teams that asset management - not as successful as us. I'll trust Pat Riley over Sam Hinkie any day of the week!
