I am saying it more in line with opportunity not just when he is going to be polished enough to play. Miami has zero issues playing Undrafted players we all know this. Right now unless something changes with the Lillard trade, Cain is not getting playing time over any of the current starter or bench rotations of Josh Richardson, JJJ, Caleb Martin, Duncan Robinson, Heismith, Thomas Bryant, Kevin Love, and he isn't going anywhere near the PG rotation regardless of getting Lillard or not. Who is he going to be replacing? JJJ & Jovic aren't even part of the regular rotation, so if those guys are gone in the trade going out that still doesn't get him playing time. I think outside of injuries to core players his name won't be called at least for another year.

If none of Duncan, Caleb, JJJ, and Highsmith are moved in a trade in the next year then I fully agree he won't have minutes available. Maybe I'm off, but I don't expect that to be the case.

I do think Cain will be ready to get further developed with regular season rotation minutes if 1-2 of those guys are suddenly gone as a result of the trade. I further believe Cain is an important developmental role player for the Heat given the likelihood that Miami will not be able to retain Martin beyond this season.

He's at least as ready as DJJ was to get in the rotation--probably further along as a shooter.

Doesn't sound like Miami is willing to invest all in just yet with a fully guarantied deal, it looks like only 2 way contracts its what's on the table for Cain at the moment. Again all this could change depending on the outcome of the trade with Lillard, however will Cain wait around, or will he take his talents elsewhere.

Agreed--most everything with roster construction is at a standstill for Miami pending Dame.
