Lowkey could be OKC if they choke again.

Yea I’d be curious to see that. Depends if they want to take the ball out or SGAs hands or not but that could be lethal

If you need a good laugh go through Jimmy’s baristas Erny and Marqueese Graysons Twitter accounts, they’re devastated. Erny trying to take the high road after all that **** he was talking but Marqueese is getting cooked

He spent two years between Minnesota and Philly after that before 6 years at Miami and now GSW. There is plenty of time.

Now whether he is the piece that you keep or not to start another build I think you could debate. Though I think he is the torch carrier for the Heat Culture and it is worth more than some are willing to admit to the Miami Heat staff.

Fully agree. If the price is right, I'm perfectly fine with taking a haul for Bam. It's the over-eager need among some to get him off the team at all costs bc he's "already" 27 (code for they never valued him), that is perplexing. I always parallel Bam to players like Draymond and Al Horford, because he is a supercharged version of that archetype.

Boston offered Al Horford a 3-year max contract in 2016--starting with his age 30 season (making 28-29% of salary cap). Boston's 2 best players before Horford arrived were Isaiah Thomas and Avery Bradley (they added Kyrie for the 17-18 season). Boston went to the conference finals 2 of the next 3 seasons (after not making it past the first round for 4 seasons straight--one of which they didn't make the playoffs). Horford played mostly small Center for them while serving as their clear defensive foundation and playmaking hub--he didn't average more than 15 ppg for them.

At the time Horford signed with Boston, Jaylen Brown was 20 and Tatum wasn't even drafted yet. Tatum's first season (as a 19 year old) was during Horford's second season with Boston (at age 31).

At age 33 (2019), Horford signed a 4-year deal with the 76ers at a cap hit percentage of over 25%. They made it to the conference semis. Philly proceeded to trade Horford to OKC for a bunch of nothing players because the fit with Embiid was a little wonky. OKC recouped value by trading Horford BACK to Boston in the 2021 offseason. Boston shipped off Kemba Walker AND a first round pick to have Horford for the last 2 years of his contract at over $25M per season--for Horford's age 35 and 36 seasons.

After losing in the first round during the 2021 season, Boston reunited with Horford, made it to the finals in 2022 (some bullsh*t tho) and the ECF in 2023. Boston re-signed Horford to a 2-year $20M extension through this season (where he is 38).

I think Horford proved pretty valuable providing his skillset and game to help bring along and expedite a youth rebuild. I think the Bam/Horford/Draymond archetype has proven to provide A LOT of value beyond the age of 30. Let's not be so quick to dismiss it.

Bam will be making less than 30% of the cap throughout his extension. He'll have a player option after the 2028 season, when he will be 30.

Yeah....Riley isn't about trading future firsts to get players extra years on their contract that they opted out of anyway.

Ya, he's not a super star, but he's still a plus player. And most "decent" players make the max money nowadays. As long as you don't expect too much on the scoring side from him (the way we were frustrated w Bosh single digit scoring games), he can be a core for next 10 years. Hope he has the UD mindset about "his" franchise and wise enough to see you don't pull the jimmy for a few more dollars. We probably gonna have his statue when all is said n done. Having said that, I would trade him in a second if we have a chance at a top 5 player, lol

Btw, maybe already mentioned, but I just saw Jimmy walking by Micky Arison to say hello to Reggie Miller. Micky's sitting right there n not even an acknowledgement to the owner who paid you millions! Such a punk move

Short of drafting Flagg or landing a Durant level star, both highly unlikely scenarios, the correct roster construction strategy, imo, would be to trade Bam in the offseason for a maximum return of draft assets and perhaps young players.

Regarding the age and situation comp to Jimmy, it doesn’t register imo off the simple basis that Bam isn’t on that level. He doesn’t have it upstairs the way Jimmy did and still does.
