I, too, like to spend other people's money.

J/k, I agree with you. :) He probably should've been kept at that price, at least to use as a trade chip during the season if nothing else. But maybe (probably) there's more to this story than we know.

And I would imagine we were ok with cutting bait, too. It seems obvious that Spo doesn't totally trust Nunn.

Nunn usually had one of the top 3 +/- on the team in most games I look at.

Nunn - 0.9 steals per game
Herro - 0.6 steals per game

On offense, he shoots
48% fg's
38% 3pt
93% FT

15 PPG, 3 apg, 3 rbg

15/3/3 stats on 48/38/93 shooting

And Spo treated him like he had ebola virus. Compare that to Herro's inefficient chucking at 43% fg shooting. Only 80% from FT.

Yet Spo runs the Kentucky Golden Boy so much you would think he adopted him.

I'm guessing there's more there too. But it really doesn't matter at this point.

Nunn is way undervalued by both Spo and Heat fans. Dude shot well above league average shooting efficiency and we’re comparing him to Dion freaking Waiters? Gimme a break.

K-Nunn is the best player in the Euroleague now and is dominating the league. He just won the Euroleague MVP. And when he was in the NBA, he showed he could be successful in the NBA even with Spo hating on him.

The NBA really is a place where it's all about finding a team that will support you and let you shine. Look at SGA moving to OKC vs when he was with the Clippers.

Unfortunately the HEAT decided to back Herro instead of Nunn.

Im no Herro fan but herro could win mvp in that league too… theres levels..

I agree with the initial part of your post about it takes a team to back you to be able to succeed.. biggest examples of that is in the NFL with Baker Mayfield, Geno Smith and Sam Darnold.. they were viewed as not nfl material, backup quarterbacks.. hell baker mayfield was dumped for absolutely nothing because they traded for a guy with 70 lawsuits of sexual assault.. and look at them now.. each of those 3 qb’s have a 100 million + deal and are starting qb’s on new teams

contract wrote:Hopefully he earns himself a decent raise, because even I was surprised at how little he got. I'm not a huge fan, but he should be earning closer to $10 million per than $5 million per. There's no way that he's not a rotation quality player somewhere in the NBA.

That contract was just bizarre unless there's something that's not public about Nunn.

I have evolved. I'm even cheaper in 2025 than I was in 2021. Replacement level players don't deserve much above the minimum. Today I could still be talked into $5 million for a player of Nunn's caliber (at the time), but closer to $10 million? No. Never mind the cap rising.

Eventually I'll insist on signing players with Walmart cash.

It just shows you 1) how easily players can end up out of the league and 2) how rich in talent the NBA is.

On one hand you had guys like Westbrook, Gary Trent Jr and Alec Burks playing for the minimum; on the other you had guys like KCP (~$21M), Bradley Beal (~$50M), and PJ Tucker (~$11M) making a killing.

Westbrook + Gary Trent > Rozier + Duncan.
But we're paying them around X10 though.

Always get the real stars first. Minimum salary role players can outproduce high salary role players.
