Put the on court impact and age and salary a side for a sec -

Am I the only one that remembers that Durant left his homegrown OKC team (which was a **** GREAT team) to leave for the team that just beat them?! A team that won the ship without him? in the biggest cupcake move in free agency history?

Then he was unhappy there (despite winning!), was unhappy with the Nets, now he's unhappy with Suns.

Can you really root for a star like that? talented as he is, this all move feels so un-inspiring, un-cool, non-exciting, short sighted, transactional. You're really going to get hyped to see this guy decline and have his retirement tour randomly on our team like the mercenary he is?

Would you rather root for Rozier, Duncan and Jovic next year?

This fanbase has taken turns yearning for mercenaries the better part of the past decade, why would it be any different with KD

Jovic should get big minutes and a consistent role, yes.

Duncan should be traded for a team interested in shedding saalry, netting us future assets.

Rozier should ride the bench or traded for an even worst 2 year contract that nets us an additional asset.

This all year should be focused on developing our young talents, and adding a lottery pick, while gaining more assets any way possible.

basically the exact opposite of losing future assets in order to see the 37YO cupcake lead us to no where.

Pat Riley is always down for a good mercenary though himself not just the fan base. He’s never really been down for young development until recently. I don’t think last year sat well with him and losing the way we did in the playoffs last year sticks. Not so long ago Riley was boasting about being an every other year drafting team. I think he goes back to his old ways this year and chucks that 20th pick in trade now that we have 2026 back.

It cracks me up how we try to pretend we’re too good for all of these guys who come available.

I want to live in the now lol. Give me KD with Bam and Herro and let the chips fall where they may. Two years is an eternity in NBA life span and i want to see his hall of famer run with Bam and Herro. Sink or swim we gotta take risk. In two years we can talk about another tear down that will never happen hahaha. Somebody will be flipped again.

Exactly, no telling how this all plays out. If we get KD maybe it turns some heads and gets some other guys wanting to come, may find the perfect fit.

We need to snag Gary Trent Jr this summer for the minimum as well, especially if we get KD. I can see him in the role of a Nesmith and he’s very ignitable as we saw in the first round where he had games of 37 and 34 points

Wait what? “Biggest cup cake move in freeagency history!” “How can you root for a star like that?”

Did you not embrace, support & root for leflop fleeing to Miami who became the most hated athlete at that time because of the move. You cheered even after The Decision & the cringe welcome party. If you can root for that circus sh*t show surely you can root for KD.
If u don't want 2b here, the way things work, u don't like it, then don't b here. U have 2 stand on something. If Miami ain't standing on something, they become alot of these organizations trying 2 find their identity. This is the culture, bro -Wade

Wiggins and Love to the Lakers for Hachimura and Vincent is a nice deal we should be seeking. Hachimura and Vincent both expiring. Also saves us 3 million. Gets Love back in LA and reunited with Bron

Love it, 2 scrappy PGs and plenty of frontcourt versatility. Lakers fans want Wiggins bad, maybe their FO does too.

I dunno, the Pacers have just jelled at the right time. It's not like any of the guys on their roster are significantly more talented than Bam, Herro and potentially Durant. Their roster is also weaker than OKC, but they're still up 2-1 so far.

It's all about finding the right guys in the right roles. I do think we're still too short on shot creation, and having a proper pure PG would alleviate some of these concerns.

I'd feel pretty confident we can find our role players (the Nesmith, Nembhard, McConnell's of the world) amongst the young guys we have on the team though.

The playoff potential for a team rises greatly if everyone in the rotation is a 2-way player and has functional outside shooting. That's both squads in the finals.

Rick Carlisle coaching cannot be understated here, either.

For the right price? Sure. He's a top 10 player all time and still a top 5 scorer in the NBA.

The right price being a major qualifier bc I do get uneasy with sacrificing 2026 flexibility in roster construction for this approach.
