In fairness, Minnesota would be offering a better player in Gobert. Plus he fills a position of need for Phoenix.

The question is, if Miami misses out on Durant, who does Miami target?

Minnesota’s build will be chit if they give up Gobert and the young Suns really don’t need to straddle themselves to Gobert’s contract who turns 33 this month

I disagree.

Presumably Reid is already there to step in as a starter, so they just need a backup. If Conley heads out, would Chris Paul sign with Minny? I assume Westbrook is following KD. I think Minnesota could trade Randle to fill out their bench plus a Bruce Brown or someone like that.

Reid
Randle
Durant / McDaniels
Ant / Alexander-Walker
Conley /

That lineup without Gobert’s defense looks abysmal and McDaniels at his money is a starter for them and best wing defender. Naz is also going to be a hot free agent so no guarantee he comes back either unless they over pay him and compound there books with KD’s extension

If Minny gives up Gobert, then KD will be stepping into another version of his Suns experience--depleted patchwork frontcourt. Naz Reid is functional on defense, but he's really not a needle mover as a defensive anchor. Nice offensive game tho.

so the logic is it's between Miami and Minny... it can only actually take place with Minny if it's after July 1st, yet everyone is reporting it should happen in the next days/before draft. Also, there is nothing Minny offers to help Sun's finances (granted this is just a report from Fischer).

This seems like a checkmate moment although Miami is in no position to low ball with how teams have gotten spiteful in the past.

That’s 4 score first guys next to a borderline washed up PG, they have no one to do the dirty work and Ant and Durant are the only 2 that impact both sides of the ball. Randle and Naz are horrible defenders and Conley is just too old

Imagine Westbrook, Bruce Brown, and Achiuwa sign and Randle gets traded for Claxton.

Claxton / Reid
McDaniels / Achiuwa
Durant / Brown
Ant / Alexander-Walker
Conley / Westbrook

I don;t think there's anything borderline with regards to the state of Conley's being washed up. Hes basically the same as current Kyle Lowry
