D-Rob Appreciation Thread

Post#1 » by HeatFanLifer » Wed Jul 2, 2025 4:08 am

Farewell D-Rob. You won’t be missed, but I appreciate you opting out of your contract. You will be expected to step up in Detroit, unlike the low expectations everyone has gained upon you these last 5 years. I don’t hate to see you go, but I hate it took 5 years to get you off the team when you first stopped producing. I would add some gifs, music, or memes to the post, but you’re dead to me.

He is your problem now Detroit.

Damn HFL, savage farewell right there.

While I'm absolutely ready to turn the page, I appreciate the Duncan Robinson story. We never expected anything from him, and he turned into one of the best shooters in the league. Since signing the big deal, he unfortunately got in his own head with the expectations that come with it, and his limitations became more of a hindrance. He still developed well as an off the bounce player over the years, and had some memorable highlights (particularly those 2 moves on Wemby - DRob had more sizzle than we knew).

Still a good soldier and locker room guy, and I don't think anyone would have a bad thing to say about his work ethic or attitude as a teammate.

It was time for both parties to move on, but congrats on securing another bag and best of luck in Detroit.

oh thank you lord! I am glad he is out of here. Heat should asked for a refund. I think Piston is a fool for paying that much, I don't think anyone can prove me wrong that Piston did not.

Bottom line - He's a success story. From undrafted to a legit player.

He became underappreciated because we overpaid him (not his fault) and because we over-relied on him due to bad roster construction.

Thanks Dunc, you did your best and it was more then we could have expected.

My exact thoughts.
Was nice to see an undrafted guy be a legit shooter for us. That contract was bad, but feels likes that's been our F.O. recently.

The Duncan Robinson endearment to fans wore off long ago. He was a major hindrance on our cap for many years. We were left to only think negatively about his situation on the Heat and for good reason.
He’ll serve as a lesson learned to not overpay a Tyler Herro who similarly can’t play any kind of meaningful physical defense. When the opposing team is targeting and exploiting the same player ALL game long and succeeding almost EVERY time something is VERY wrong with that picture

Duncan made something of himself here, and as a fan, I'll always have a soft spot for the man. His contract simply outweighed his actual value to the team.

I always liked Duncan. He was clutch, and had great chemistry with Bam. Spo didn't trust him much though. But we all remember him coming through, many many times. Even recently in the playoffs.

Unfortunately, that contract Pat gave him ruined things.

If he was more affordable, he's a perfect bench guy.

Duncan had a good run. His contributions in the bubble will not be forgotten. Made himself a lot of money here and now in Detroit. Happy for his success and I hope he gets consistent minutes on his new team.

If he was a dawg on defense hed still be here. The ref scapegoating and constant targeting were too much.

I wish him well. Dont really care if he succeeds or not as he is winning at life with that new contract.

Good job buddy.

Lots of fun. Kept us from being swept in the Finals too.
