Mark Blount Lovefest

Blount is a solid scoring option with Wade's ability to get in the paint. He can hit a jumper and has some decent post moves. Blount won't dominate a game, but he can make shots that most teams will give to a center. He can't rebound worth a lick but I think his small frame makes it hard for him to box out many centers. Still, you want to see at least 8-9 rebs a game from your starting center.

The benefit of our current roster is that the forwards rebound well. Wright, Haslem, and Marion are all double-digit rebound threats each night. Personally, I think people who think Brand is the best upgrade for this roster are wrong. We just need to add Michael Beasley through the draft if we end up with the #1. We'd have four great rebounding forwards (SF: Beasley, Wright; PF: Marion, Haslem). Resign Zo to the vet minimum, and sign a backup PG and 3rd center (Diop) for a reasonable amount...bam, that is a team that can contend.

The first unit surrounds Wade with four 3pt threats, and two high-flying forwards. The second unit all provide defensive help. Plus, this roster is extremely versatile in the frontcourt. Marion can move to either forward position and Blount can play a little PF against teams that we need to go big against.

Blount was a good find by Riley in my opinion. His contract is a little hard to take on, but he is a good offensive option to put around Wade. With a good platoon of rebounding forwards and backup centers, Blount's rebounding and defensive liabilities can be masked.

Its funny a lot of the same people complaining about Blount loved Doleac, I remember when Mourning came back a lot of people n here wanted to keep Zo behind Doleac even, then once Zo showed he still had it they jumped back on the Zo bandwagon.

Doleac sucked at everything except a mid range jumper. Horrible defense, weak rebounder, no inside game at all. At least Blount slams a few home each game and is semi-athletic. Blount is a better outside shooter than Doleac with more range too.

Blount is way better than Doleac and a decent player.

Mark Blount is the worst big guy defender I've seen. Doleac's shot was actually better.

Doleac was pretty limited, but he kind of knew he was a role player, Mark Blount has never produced of the bench, he has as a starter had some good scoring nights at times, but he is not starter material, by the fact his the worst defender in the world as a big guy. I will take Doleac because he actually was a better defender, knew his role as a bench scrub, and was a better defender.
