It did seem as though riley wishes he had gone further though.
It's now clear why the Heat didn't get anyone else - they thought they could get this deal through.
I think Riley will be agressive in the off-season - that'll be good for us.

I also think that riley is desperate for a legit shooter off the bench...i think that riley will either sign and trade wright or trade haslem for that shooter...who it is will be anyones guess...miami also could try to sign james jones in the off season...we need shooters more than anything else...i love wright but he is redundant IMO with marion...bring navarro or udrih and james jones here somehow...

You know hearing this makes me want Pat to step down even more. He wants shooting but wont play Cook who some believe is the best shooter on the team? And we would take on Brian Cardinal contract? WTF is going on here with Pat? One can only imagine how badly Pat would have slowed Wades growth as a rookie if he was the coach instead of Stan.

He has given Cook a lot of time this season. You do realise he's shooting about 20% recently. It may be good for Cook to go and get big minutes in the Dleague for a few weeks and re-find his shot and his confidence before bringing him back for PT later in the season.

Why do you guys think the unnamed player is Miller? Is it because the Sun-Sentinel said so? For a shooter?
I doubt the player Riley referring was Mike Miller because if he is desperate for a shooter he could have Wally Szczerbiak to take whom was traded for Marshall, Griffin & an expiring contract if he really wants a shooter. Miami can make a better offer of Parker and expiring contract/s.
Or maybe Riley

I may be totally off, but reading these quotes and hearing he was wistful, it seems to me that Riley is regretting trading Shaq. Regardless of their run ins, Riley sincerely had love for him and respected him as one of the great all time players. I believe the big regret was that he could have pried away a Miller, Cardinal and maybe Wally if he took on more salary, and that they would have been good players next to DWade, Shaq & UD, making for a legit turnaround possibility next year with a traditional half court system.
I am BY NO MEANS suggesting I feel the same remorse or think we should have done these trades, but I can see Riley thinking that and thinking it would have motivated Shaq next year. I believe it would have been a year older Shaq taking half the season off and then complaining Riley stocked the roster with old guys.
