Ricky Davis was supposed to be our 3rd option this season. We discovered that he is NOT a 3rd option on a good team. With that being said, I wouldn't mind him back with the team off the bench where IMO he can flourish by scoring and keeping us in games. But at the end of games, sit him on the bench.

So what he suited up for every game? In a lot of the games it looked like thats all he did, already thinking about hitting the clubs later on. I think people make too big a deal of the fact that he played in every game. Let's all aim for consistent mediocrity!

I Am the first to say Ricky was not the problem this year. But he is not the aswer either. D.Cook can almost do anything Ricky can but at a Cheaper and Younger Price.
Defense ---Ricky By a Close margin,Most will say that Ricky is good at steal but not more.Cook,Fouls alot right now but if he brings that down then ill say Cook.
3 Ball- ----Ricky by a Close margin,Cook had his momment but so did ricky, give cook a year or 2 and cook wins this.
Rebounds---Ill say they are the same,Neithe will ever be known for rebouds
Assit--Ricky,This is ricky most underrated skill.
Ball handling---Cook wins this,Cook has a good handle for a SG but needs to work on it alittle more. This is rickys biggest problem,He can handle.
Money--Ricky wants 6 million,1.2 million for Cook.

Ricky is a better rebounder right now, but Cook has shown signs of being a good rebounder for a SG. I'd say Ricky is also the better ball-handler still when you consider how loose Cook's can get sometimes. Obviously Ricky lost the ball a lot on the way to the rim, but I trust him more on the perimeter with the ball than Cook.

Ricky is a better defender than what I thought he'd be. He has enough athleticism to cover good perimeter players. the big knock on him, IMHO, is he seems to have a low basketball IQ. At the beginning of the year, I thought it was just an issue of finding his rhythm and meshing with his teammates, but that sensation never went away. I was constantly bewildered at some of his decisions with the ball. Poor shot selection. Passes when he should shoot. Shoots when he should pass. He dribbles right into double teams.

Ricky probably has the least basketball IQ out of any player i've ever seen play this game. I'm not sure why any Heat fan would defend him, he's freaking horrible.
Just because he played 82 games and occasionally put up some scoring numbers on a team that was playing for NOTHING doesn't mean he should be a part of our future.

I think your hating on ricky a little to much there. The guy is good. Ricky's biggest problem is when he has the ball in his hands and is asked to create. When the guy is on the wing its a different story. When Wade and marion were around, Ricky would sit in the corners and just hit shots. Ricky when he is set is very underrated. To say he has the worst IQ tell me you have never seen Antoine Walker or a Jason Williams 4 on 1 fast break.

We all saw flashes of a good player, but he never fully "got it." Obviously a lot of that more than likely had to do with the team never establishing an identity, but he was an extremely frustrating player to watch at times. I could see him being successful on a contender if the already had an identity that fit Ricky's game.

How good are you, when you put up the numbers that Davis put up for this Heat team?
If you take away Ricky Davis' first 3 seasons*, hes played for some really bad teams *didn't play much in his 1st 3 seasons, so he wouldn't have been much of a factor.
Some team will give him a couple seasons, but I doubt he gets Midlevel. If he wants that, he'll be waiting quite some time.
