Meaning we are offering him the LLE or he is close to accepting the LLE?

For what Kwame can do, he'd be a nice addition to any team needing a presence at center.

Sometimes I wonder if people watch basketball, or at least watch Kwame play.

Bleh I thought Riley would have learned his lesson with Smush. He'll have to get his mafia connections again if this is true.

Personally, I don't think he'd be bad signing for the LLE. He's a big body, can play some defense, can rebound some. Is he a huge bust? Sure and he will never live up to the potential. But I would venture for the LLE ($1.8 per for 2 years) he's a better signing than Diop with the Mavs.

Is that under the intention he's a scrub, or that he isn't a bad player in terms of being a decent role-playing center?

About him being a scrub, but it wasn't directed just at you, more of a general statement.

Kwame sat his butt on the bench for the Grizzlies, playing Jason Collins over him. The Grizzlies need center help more then anybody in the league, probably including us, and he didn't even get any run for them.

Hes awful.

Yeah.

Well for that, I have watched enough of Kwame, and he definitely has his flaws, but also has enough stronger points, to the point where he isn't a bad player as a role-player. He showed all that with the Lakers.

here's a solid summary on Kwame by tsherkin:

rsavaj wrote:Kwame Brown(I hate him, but he's not an atrocious post defender)

tsherkin wrote:"[N]ot an atrocious post defender?"

Kwame's best attribute is that he's a filthy man defender. He's a decent offensive rebounder, has brick hands, doesn't rebound the ball on the defensive end terribly well, doesn't have a good scoring game and isn't a wonderful help defender... he's not an atrocious help defender.

He's a nightmarish post defender. I'd be happy to catch him for a portion of the MLE.

That's not actually true, he generally busted hard to get himself in great physical condition and to learn how to defend. He's petulant, immature and dumb as a rock... those are the things you should worry about, not his work ethic. He's mentally frail and unskilled offensively. But as a cheap backup for Shaq? I think he'd be fine, especially because he's a good offensive rebounder and post defender.

I think he'd be a fine pick-up for you guys to help with your size, defense, toughness up front.

What's kept him around recently and should continue to is his defense, size, and the agility he has for a big man.

Now if he isn't in shape, then that's different, but I doubt he isn't going to have usual committment to playing and continuing his career, for what he can be. Anybody who isn't in shape will be decreased.

Collins is more refined and experienced as a role-player, so his presence I'd say was better suited for a young Memphis team. Regardless, what happened in Memphis, especially for 1/2 a season, doesn't reflect the kind of oppurtunity and situation Kwame would have with the Heat, or another team bringing him in for a set spot. Which would be playoff-level teams, looking to add defense.

Kwame's a turnover machine, and he CANNOT finish whatsoever! It's pathetic...and it makes him sulk and makes him play even worse.

Like it's already been mentioned, this would be the sequel: Smushier Parkerer

no thank you to kwame. Seriously, that guy cannot catch a freakin basketball and that nice mid-range shot from previous years looks all but gone now. I know he is a decent post defender but he should not be in the NBA if he cannot contribute to the offense, and he has major attitude problems as well.

People have gone all **** over the nets signing jarvis hayes (who actually sucks at defense and has a nice-looking shot that misses a ton), this is the heat board's version. There is a reason teams have given up on these guys. If we sign him I'll support him like I do all our players, but until then I don't want him.

Its as if hes just gotten worse and worse as his career has gone on. His confidence is so low basketball wise, and hes so weak mentally that he plays a million times worse then he should. If you look at the numbers he literally has gotten worse, its insane.

If Riley was still the coach and we signed Kwame, he would be screwed.

We won't end up signing Kwame though, even Riles said hes out of our price range since he will get more then the LLE for reasons you listed.

Good
1 on 1 defenders against other bigs and some smalls
Setting screens - very underrated and helped Kobe get his shots off which would have helped in the finals
being able to handle the ball on and pass from the high post
quick first step
good post moves( I've never seen them post moves )
boxing out his man usually the best rebounder
When he wants to be, he can be a presense on the floor.

If he did what you thought was good for us he'd still be a Laker

Desagnap Diop and Adonal Foyle are getting 35 million plus....no ones saying Kwane is our savior.

But for the LLE hes the best option..he can defend in the post and he can rebound, thats good enough.....on top of that you guys want someone with good hands, great post moves, shot blocker..good luck finding that with the LLE.

If your team is signing Kwame Brown and can look at him as an upgrade over the projected starter its a bad signing. If your team is signing Kwame Brown on the cheap to be a 7' 270 lbs back up big who you only want 5/5 from in 15 minutes a night then its a good move.

We are looking at having to choose between starting Kwame Brown or Mark Blount and that is a very bad thing because we lose no matter which one we choose. If we pick Kwame Brown we will be playing 4 vs 5 on offense, if we pick Blount we will be playing 4 vs 5 on defense and the boards.

Hope you're right.

I'd rather hold an open try-out than to give millions to Kwame Brown. Just on principle alone really.

Maybe invite back some old classics like Vlad Stepania, Alan Ogg, Matt Geiger, Manute Bol ... maybe make it a pay-per-view special?

Hell, what's Rony Seikaly up to? The dude still looks the same, is it possible he doesn't age? Don't they call anti-aging "an ancient Grecian secret"?

Or we can just wait until Phoenix buys out Shaq this year. Save the LLE for him ...

Here are some other viable options;
*Luke Schenscher, *Lance Allred, *Pape Sow, DJ Mbenga, Dale Davis, Rafael Araujo, Peter John Ramos & James Lang.

I think Dale Davis can definitely still play, in a limited role of course, but effective on defense and bringing intangibles.
