2007-08 Heat remind you of 1996-97 Spurs?

It may seem a bit different, and we may not come close to the turn around the Spurs had the following year after getting TD however I can not help but notice it is some what similiar. I mean, most had the Heat at least top 5 in the east last season, with Shaq, Wade and even at the time the Ricky Davis trade gave us a lot of hope for a possible return to glory. Then all the injuries happened, Shaq basically quit on us(no shocker), Haslem, JDub, Wade, Wright and even Marion had injuries all season..

We were able to by the grace of God land who I think is the best player in the draft. So, some what like the 1997 Spurs, we "sacrificed" one season, for a chance to now be a contender again for the next decade.

With Wade coming back healthy and motived, with Beasley and our other new additions(not to mention what ever Riley does from now until the season starts)I am super exicted this season. We may not be a top team in the East right away, but on the flip side, I see us as a real darkhorse in the east, that could do some serious damage..

I mean, even as a rookie, is there a better inside, outside duo in the NBA, then Wade and B-Easy? Both of these guys can just score at will.. this is going to be a fun season.. even if we do not trade Marion.. Imagine the fun watching this offense is going to be..

Let's hope and pray that this team is anything like those Spurs. If Beasley is a Tim Duncan-calibur player, then the league is in trouble for the next 10 years; because D-Wade is a lot younger than David Robinson and Sean Elliott were back then.

I thought of that idea a little while back and hopefully Beasley is a player for the ages like Duncan was, but I think the last player of that caliber was Lebron James. With that said though, while the Heat may not have an awesome twin towers combo like the Spurs, perhaps Wade-Beasley-Chalmers can be as good as Duncan-Ginobilli-Parker someday and hopefully have a more exciting game play style. But right now it's far too early to say that.

It would be nice if Beasley could have a Tim Duncan like impact but I doubt that will happen anytime soon since Duncan is one of the all time greats. Beasley is going to have to first prove he can provide solid defense in the post. Not worried about his offense because he can flat out score.

Yknow...people on the bulls board think of that in the same way. We had one awful season to end up w/ a great player. And hopefully we can be right back to the playoffs.

BTW...i'd love to see a home opener vs. Heat. (thats 2nd to only the Bulls Vs Knicks so i can watch the bulls **** allover D'Antoni lol)
