Re: Cap Situation for next summer (2009)
Is there an official number out yet for Chalmers and JJ? Sun Sentinel says "About 4 million" which would be 4,420,000 for year 2. Chalmers says "about 700k" for year one. Which would be 735,000 for year 2. I'll update with those numbers for now.

You're probably not including cap holds for 4 empty roster spots under 12.
Got it ! I think
Wade 15,779,912
Blount 7,962,500
Udonis 7,100,000
08 MLE (Chalmers+JJ) 6,171,425------only 5 million used so far
Beasley 4,638,600
Banks 4,464,000
Cook 1,362,120
4 Roster spots: 457,488 x4= 1,830,352
Total: 49,308,909 - 1.1=48.2
Salary Cap in 2009/2010: 61,897,220
CAP SPACE: 12,588,311 +1.1 m=13.7
Keep in mind both Chalmers and JJ are eligible for 10.5% raises for year 2. Because we are talking about the 2009 free agency period there 2009-2010 salaries are listed here.

So am I correct in assuming that the number one target is Boozer, followed by..... Odom? Really?
I mean it's kind of funny if he ends up being the fit with Marion out of there as the second best FA.
Maybe Heat fans can give me an idea of the team's priorities.

NOW PG and Center
2009 barring any trade
SF/PG/C
or Maybe the Heat can resign Marion (30 year old)
to a deal starting at 9m ending 12m for 4 years 4/42 million

Fun facts :
- The Miami Heat surpassed the Knicks in championships
- Only the Lakers, Bulls, Celtics and Spurs have more championships

That's pretty miserable...
There has to be a better solution than letting Marion go to pray for Carlos Boozer to come here (not convinced the Heat have the cap space necessary to sign him away either).
Ron Artest?
Lamar Odom?
Carlos Boozer is still not exactly a player you bank your team's fortunes on for years.

Who say we are banking on Boozer ..
There is other option you know
having 14 million can get you 2 very good players in off-season
or just resign Marion to about 11 a year
If the season is sucessful..

Re: Cap Situation for next summer (2009)
not to mention trades of guys we're not even thinking of or considering -- having cap room next year when everyone is gunning for 2010 may be an advantange for us -- being able to easily getting guys in trades instead of waiting on a free agent the following year... ... not to mention not needing the new guy to bank our team's fortunes on... god willing Wade is #1 and Beasley will become a #2+
