1. I'm not a dude.

2. Forgive me if I have a blurry recollection of the **** season that was 06-07 (only to be topped by the **** season that was 07-08).

And just for the record, I was a gigantic DWade fan. He could do no wrong in my eyes, on or off the court. But even listening to him in interviews after the championship season, he was always using the reasoning of "we only need one game," "we've done it before, no reason we can't do it again," "it's just the beginning of the season, there's plenty of time" etc. to explain any lack of urgency or just the **** play of the team. I was only starting to get worried at that point that he had lost a lot of the drive that made him so incredible. But since then, everything has only gotten worst. And no one here can pretend that he hasn't gained A LOT OF WEIGHT in the past couple of years. Of course, some weight is to be expected with the injuries he's had, but the weight started pre-injury as well and has yet to disappear.

Basically, I'm hoping that he proves me wrong in all of this, because I am still a fan. I'm just not as clouded in my judgment of him as I used to be.

^ Wade used to be hungry to win but Shaq has been a bad influence on him, but its not surprising with even Riley changing his culture to accommodate Shaq. But, I believe Wade has regained the eye of the tiger after the humbling season he went through where he hit rock bottom hard. It made him realize that he has to keep working hard to be among the elite because it's easy to fall from the top.

I hope he changes his attitude towards people. I know its annoying to be constantly swarmed by fans and media, but I'm don't like the excuse about how its acceptable because other athletes do it.

But, my only and main concern is seeing Wade back to playing at a HOF level. I'd rather him be a douche bag and a great player who will lead the Heat team to more titles than a humanitarian who loses all the time.

What seperates Wade is not his drive. Is his quickness. Wade is just a rare athlete. Those injuries took a tool on him. Also those months of rehabbing did affect him mentally. Wade didn't lose his drive, Wade lost some of the focus. Wade played hard many times last season, he just was a bit slow mentally and physically didn't have that ultra speed. He made to many turnovers, and bad decisions on the court, and was off rhythm most of the year. But it wasn't because he wasn't trying and lost his drive, it was because of rust. and his focus wasn't there.

LeBron has more size, Kobe does have more skill. But if you think Bron can slack and get injured an put 30 points, without trying, I think you are overrating LeBron. Kobe might be one of the few players that can probably do that at times, but Kobe plays hard almost every night, so its hard to tell if he can too.

I think Kobe is more talented, for Wade to get back to being close to his level, he needs that ultra speed back, or to improve his all around game. This year will be a test.

And I think Wade being a so called jerk, will help him on the court. He has more time to work on his game, than to accommodate every overzealous bitter fan.

You make a good point lol. But since when does accommodating overzealous bitter fans affect on-the-court play? Unless the fan is asking for an autograph during the middle of a game and Wade decides to take the play off to sign for him...

Jordan was called jerk. Kobe gets called a jerk. I think their is a correlation for some reason. Instead of Jordan giving autographs, he was probably working on his game, that is why people thought he was a jerk. I honestly think fans expect to much from this athletes.

So because he's gotten less humble, and more annoyed with thousands of fans harassing him every waking second hes in public, that it takes away from his drive? WTF?

I'm not standing up for him becoming more of an ass but, its human nature.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but have you guys seen or heard anything about Wade being a crappy teammate as of late? Because I haven't, even last year when I went to a game he seemed great to his teammates. Giving them encouragement and leading. Unlike Kobe, who whines and yells at his teammates during timeouts.

Sorry, but just because hes being a bit of a douche bag to some fans, doesn't mean it has taken away his drive. This thread has made a ridiculous turn.

No you didn't say that but that's also not what I disagreed with either. I disagreed with the people in this thread who have questioned desire/commitment. In the post I quoted of yours, you did just that. And so have several others. Let's review several quotes in this thread:

What separated him and made him one of the best, was that drive/desire/fire that he played with that got him to where he once was, he NEEDS that back.

I was only starting to get worried at that point that he had lost a lot of the drive that made him so incredible

Wade used to be hungry to win

Wade doesn't have that capability he needs to work his ass off and play with that "fire" to be on that level and he was doing it for some time. Hope he gets that fire back this year and is ready to go at it again

What made Wade a super star was the fire of being a underdog, once he one the title i think it got to his head and lost it

After winning the title, he obviously lost that drive, which was obvious both in interviews and in his play.

Agreed, I haven't seen anyone say they don't want him on the team. But again, that's not what I disagreed with. I disagreed with all of the above. After the title season, he was putting together the best season of his career, his stat line was freakin amazing... and now, because of one off year coming off double major surgeries, people are questioning his desire. That's just poo poo right there. He still put up HOF averages despite being broken down... despite a roster that severely downgraded in talent... despite Shaq's lame self absolutely quitting on the team and sitting out half the year. The only thing the kid lost was temporary health. It's hard to believe this garbage is coming from Heat fans. Novemember can't come soon enough.
