Re: Heat vets insist they won't retire
I would keep House. He's a shooter and should've seen more playing time and was key to our comeback in the 2nd quarter of game 6 of the finals. He is not afraid to shoot when he is wide open, as opposed to our players who were passing up wide open shots. I want House, and MAYBE Bibby. I don't care for the rest.

House and James Jones have player options. Eddie will be back.

Dampier was at Club LIV last night partying with his old teammates on the Mavs.
He should never be allowed in this city again let alone back on this team.

You can't be serious?

There's the door Erick, and don't forget to take Erik (Spoelstra) with you.

Re: Heat vets insist they won't retire
Well now some on Twitter are saying there were other Heat players with him:

I'm not going to call for heads just yet, this could turn out to be b.s. rumors. But I will say, if this is true ANYONE that was partying after that loss should be thrown off this team.
so is Erik Dampier gonna snitch on his Heat teammates that were at LIV with him?? I'm hearing it was four. we need them other three names.
Erick Dampier and three other players were at LV partying with the Mavs. Wow

oh wow 3-4 players... I wonder who they could have been.
Wasn't the core... might have been some of the vets who didn't even play.

Supposedly the other two were Chalmers and Pittman. Who know if it's true but those are the two I would also probably guess considering their age and maturity levels.

Re: Heat vets insist they won't retire
I heard it was just Dampier. Just says a lot about him. No problem being happy for your friends or ex-teammates, but have some pride in yourself. They just kicked your ass and you go to the locker room, take a shower then drive to the club to party with the other side LOL maybe he even rode with them on the team bus?

Re: Heat vets insist they won't retire
I'm sure Riley would ask LeBron before signing Delonte West, but he would be the perfect PG for this team. Great defense, very good shooter, good ball handler and passer, great size for a PG, has post skills, can get his own shot pretty consistently.
If the rumors aren't true, I want West more than anyone else on that list above. Przybilla would be nice too if his injuries aren't going to hamper him.
Delonte can also guard almost any guard in the league, both PG and SG. He's strong and tough enough to guard players a few inches taller than him, but also quick enough to stay in front of PGs. It would give the Heat the ability to play Chalmers and West at the same time, much like the Cavs did with Williams and West.
That would also allow for more rest for both Wade and LeBron, with West playing maybe 12 minutes a night at SG to limit Wade to about 36 minutes, and Miller can play 12-18 minutes at SF to limit LeBron to about 36 minutes as well (I said 12-18 thinking LeBron might play 6 or so minutes at PF in some games).
One of Miller/Jones needs to go, probably Jones, though Miller's contract would be nice to get rid of, especially if it could net us a good big man in return. Something like Joel+Miller for a big would be nice. Then the MLE could be used to get West or if West would sign for the minimum, another competent backup big.

What are guys considering bringing Bibby back smoking? He was completely useless the whole time he was here. We should've kept Arroyo. I'd like to see Howard back just so he can get a ring. The rest can go.

Re: Heat vets insist they won't retire
-Jones is a must, hopefully he isn't too pissed he wasn't used in the finals. The Heat org needs to apologize and admit they screwed up in not playing him.
-House is OK as min salary or standard escalation. Always a good guy to have at the end of your 12 man roster but not essential.
-Bibby is the best you are going to get as a vet back-up 1 at the min, see if the last half season was
an exception to his otherwise great shooting career. Even if his shot never returns, not a bad guy to give you 18 minutes of running the team off the bench. Bibby was better than Arroyo BTW, there is a reason the latter got zero minutes for Boston even with Rondo on 1 arm.
-Even with Dalembert or another + Joel + still need another vet C. So 1 of Z, Mags or Damp is probably as good as any other vet min center.
-Howard I could care less. Kind of the House situation, a decent guy in the 11-12th spot because he knows what he is and what he isn't, but he is bad luck.
The biggest issue is the Heat need a new coach or Spo needs to grow from this and adjust his approach with regard to roll players in terms of minutes and flexibility. Except for perhaps 1 center (e.g., Dalembert), most of the rest of the squad will look the same -- the same guys or guys just like them, they just have to be used better.

I was trying to get the Delonte West to South Beach campaign started in the 11-12 thread. Definitely think he would be a great addition. If there's any merit to the rumors however I would be perfectly fine with LeBron saying no I dont want him here. Otherwise lets go

I can imagine all the "father and son re-unite" jokes already.
