Which roster would you rather have?

Post#1 » by GreenHat » Tue Jun 14, 2011 10:59 pm

I heard this question on the radio the other day and thought it was interesting.

They asked Jeff Van Gundy if the series was to be replayed tomorrow and he had to pick a roster to coach who would he take to coach. He chose the Heat.

I think thats interesting because it came after we had just lost the series and had just lost 3 games in a row.

The thing is I agree with him, I'd take the Heat as well.

Just curious what everyone else thinks.

Definitely the Heat, now and in the future.

The talent was and is there. Credit to Dallas, they played as a better team. But I refuse to believe that this Heat team was not capable of beating the Mavs THIS season.

The coaching staff did a poor job adjusting our defense to tackle the Mavs offense and combat their zone. It didn't help that LBJ probably had his worst playoff series of all time, Bosh struggled at times, and Wade was pretty bad in Game 6.

The Big 3 all have a LOT of work/improvement to do this summer. All of them need to add something to their games.

I would LOVE for us to make it out of the East next season and meet Dallas again. We took a title from them, they took one from us. One more series to settle things.

Edit:
The poll will be skewed by outsiders.

We blew games 2 and 4, had we not choked away a few comfortable leads, this question would seem a lot more ridiculous than it is now. Had RC and Spo switched roles in this series, Carlisle would still have hoisted his first Larry O'Brien trophy.

Definitively the heat. all they need is a better coaching staff to implement a better offensive system, and make in game adjustments both offensively and defensively.

I still think the Heat were somewhere between better and dominant for the first four games.

They just took their foot off the neck of Dallas with 6 minutes to go in the 2nd and 4th games. Should have been a sweep. The game 3 win was absolutely amazing to win considering how one sided the calls were.

Games 5 and 6, all credit to dallas, they made their shots and were the better team, but the sour taste in my mouth is because the Heat had control of the series in the first 4 and got complacent.

I think that is the worst thing, how close we were to underwhelming our way to a championship.

i would take terry out of mavs and the rest is nothing important at all. of course dirk is a legendary guy, but jason terry was the man making the difference. heat should have a reliable 6th man like j-terry. james jones-mike miller-udonis haslem-eddie house are really good guys but they are not consistent at all. you know that terry will score at least 10-15 points coming from te bench and this is an big issue for a team i think. i don't know it is possible or not(probably impossible) but i would have j-crawford in this miami heat team :D

Heat all day. Dallas didnt win because they were deeper or had more talent. They won because they were the smarter, more efficient team with a smarter more efficient coach.

We played dumb and sloppy. We wasted possessions and time, and we didnt exploit their weaknesses. They figured us out and exploited our lack of adjustment and low collective bball IQ.

Homer idiot, I hope you realise that when the dust settles in a few days, the Miami Heat are still the center of the basketball universe, perennial contenders, and the favorites to win next season. The only reason you are even relevant is because people are celebrating a heat loss and not a mavericks win. Enjoy your 15 minutes in the sunshine, WE ARE THE SUN. It will once again be all about the heat in a couple of weeks and the mavs will be a rearview blurb. "Take Dat wit Choo!!!!!!"

Only thing tainted is the water in Dallas.

You have one championship in 31 years and you think you are better than Miami?

We are 1-1 in finals. You guys played well this year, came back after we had an early series lead and beat us. In '06 we did the same against you. We can't win em all, we accept the defeat and move on already thinking about our bright future.

A lot of plays and calls went in your favor this finals, many crucial charges and iffy calls went against us, but we will not blame that for the loss. We simply didn't do enough to win, when you blame refs that means your team was relying on an outside power to help them. You were the better team this time. You are still crying about '06 even after you won in '11, that is sad.

Only thing i can say is, enjoy this ring, you won't get another for a long time, neither will Dirk. We will have many more finals and a couple rings in the near future to celebrate about. Enjoy the off-season and hope you liked watching us in the finals this year, next year you will see us again, not too sure your team will be there though.

Honestly, Mavs just won the title yet LeBron is the #1 story on ESPN.

How does this series with 26 new players and two new coaches validate anything about a series 5 years ago?

And if that series was "rigged" for whatever reason, why wouldn't they rig it again for those same reasons?

not even a question

the Mavs may have one title run left in them - thats it.

we are young, having 2 superstars and an allstar.
I still think we'll be a dynasty hopefully next year, at least in 2 years

I went with the Heat on this one. By a whisker.

This is not really a fair question though. What you are essentially asking is "Which roster is better....one constructed by Cuban's will to win at all costs, or one constructed meticulously under Arison's strict LT stipulations?"

Every time there is only one answer to that question.

I know how Reinsdorf is when it comes to LT (and I think its a good thing overall)....so I went with the salary conscious answer, even though Mavs roster is probably a shade better with Caron.
For love, not money.
