Would they able to sign LeBron, Dwyane, and Bosh straight?

Yes, they already pretty much did that, all the S&T's did was get them slightly higher yearly raises and a 6th season.

Next question?

I think they also did it to nip tampering charges in the butt, because Gilbert was preparing to pitch a legal **** fit about Lebron leaving. By giving compensation ahead of it, it effectively stopped that from ever being an option for Gilbert.

I also think they did it to make sure the losing teams(toronto/cleveland) got something in return

The only reason was for the big three to get that extra year, which was the Heat obligation after the big three took less money yearly. It had nothing to do with potential tampering charges, or even more laughable to make sure Toronto and Cleveland got something in return LOL. Miami did not care about cleveland or toronto, they could of been detracted and they wouldnt gave a hoot.

Completely agree.

Riley could give two ****'s about how the public would view his particular brand of decimating the two franchises. It was 100% about the fact that only their current teams could offer 6 year contracts (as opposed to 5).

Its not like we gave much value anyway. The Twolves came away with much more in their trade with us, while giving infinitley less.
