i know Joel can be awful and kinda funny but i hate it when people make fun of him...he really does tries his best and works hard, he just doesn't have the talent of a strater. he should come off the bench and give us what he can.

Is anyone else enjoying this abbreviated training camp and free agency?

I know teams aren't going to be on the same page and there are a lot of players who are going to be out of shape but I like it a lot better than the agonizing wait.

The gap between players in great shape and players out of shape is huge due to a shortened offseason. There are the ones who used the extra time to improve their game and conditioning and are in even better shape then last season and there are those who extended their vacation a little during the lockout.

On Harris...

Sunday morning, Terrel Harris was just another anonymous face in Miami Heat training camp, a guard out of Oklahoma State who went undrafted in 2009 and since had played in France, Germany and the NBA Development League.

By Sunday night, Harris had emerged as a contender for one of the team's final roster spots, after scoring 16 points in the 118-85 exhibition blowout victory over the Orlando Magic, converting 4 of 5 3-pointers.

"I think the majority of people noticed his 4 for 5 from 3-point line. What we noticed was his quickness and toughness defensively," coach Erik Spoelstra said Monday of the scrappy 6-foot-4 guard who had spent the first week of training camp defending Dwyane Wade and LeBron James. "He's a prototypical Oklahoma State player, gritty, tough, defensive-mind. He'd been doing that all week long, playing against arguably the two best wings in this league, and he was holding his own defensively. We like those kind of guys and I want to give him a look."

Of course, you couldn't help but look when the wiry 190-pound guard stepped in to take a charge against 290-pound Magic power forward Glen "Big Baby" Davis.

"Again, the prototypical Oklahoma State player," Spoelstra said. "They probably did football drills and charge drills with football helmets on for four years."

Harris' next change comes in Wednesday's preseason rematch against the Magic in Orlando. It also could be Harris' last chance, with rosters to be trimmed to 15 by Sunday's season opener against the Dallas Mavericks.

"You always enjoy finding surprises," Spoelstra said. "Only time will tell if you actually use one of your roster spots for one these young guys."

On Curry...

Center Eddy Curry, sidelined since the third day of training camp by a hip flexor, said he has been able to stay busy enough otherwise to have dropped an additional 15 pounds since the start of camp.

"I'm close," he said. "It's really, honestly, a day-to-day type of thing. Every day feels better, just not quite where it should be, to be able to go out there and safely do something without reinjuring yourself.

"Right now, I'm just doing every single thing I can off the court so when I'm able to play to be able to step in and contribute."

Curry said after conversations with Spoelstra and Heat President Pat Riley that he doesn't believe his roster spot is in jeopardy.

"I talk to Coach Spo every day. I talked to Coach Riley a lot. They're patient," he said. "They understand what's going on with my injury and they're just telling me to put my faith in the guys in the training room, and that's what I'm doing."

Harris has a real shot. When he slid under and took that charge on Big Baby early in the first, Riley/Spo probably got a half chub. Not to mention displaying a proficient shooting stroke in real game action, and the fact that Miller is out atleast another few weeks, and Eddie House coming off knee scope, we may need to keep him out of necessity...If only for a few weeks. He seems to fit the mold of what the Heat value in role players.

Losing 15 pounds since training camp without even being able to play?

Either this is hyperbole or why the hell didn't Curry lose all this weight before when its this easy.

Riley's half chub is a steel girder for anyone else.

Riley is a god among men.
LeBron's NBA Cup MVP is more valuable than either of KD's Finals MVPs. This is the word of the Lord

With Battier, House, and Miller all injured to start the season--keeping Harris might actually be a necessity now.

Battier's injury is very minor. They are having precautions.

Miller though... if he comes back and does not live up to expectations, I'd keep Harris.

Someone said how he would wait around the perimeter and stuff. In the preseason game he shot 4 3's and was not hesitant at all and I like his defense.

House now.... is not even used. I am surprised he is even signed more than one year.

Erik Spoelstra essentially says Eddy Curry has made roster. "The idea when we brought Eddy to camp was to think big picture."

That quote doesn't sound promising for Curry's current condition but I figured he would get a spot

Okay screw Harris, but if there is 1 more spot available give it to Gladness. Harris stunk lmao, first game was a fluke.
