It's very embarrassing to get amnestied. Guys around the league will give you hell. The Heat are the most high profile team in the league. If Miller gets amnestied, the whole world would know and laugh. There are plenty of quotes from Miller over the summer where he was begging not to be amnestied.

lmao WHAT?? Miller (if amnestied) would have 17 million reasons to not care what anyone thinks, period. You sound like a drama queen. I could be wrong but wasnt Chauncey Billups amnestied by the Knicks? I dont recall him being embarrassed, or anyone around the league giving him hell or laughing about it. Matter of fact he was offered a winning role on a pretty good Clippers team that beat us early on in the year, he just so happened to get hurt.

We're not amnestying Miller, we'll be over the cap anyway, so we're stuck with him. He's a really good rebounder for someone his size and I'm not really sure why, it seems like when he's out there, the ball goes right to him. I like Mike as a person and it's sad to see how broken down and hobbled he is but all he has to do is give us a few more weeks of playing and he has a LONG time to rest up.

I've never wanted to punch someone in the face so badly. Really hoping to run into him at a game one day. I won't hesitate.

Just because we are over the cap, doesn't mean it is inconsequential. We pay a luxury tax that gets more steep the more you are over it. I think it is like dollar for dollar for the first 5 milliion, 2 dollars for every dollar for the next 5 million, and so on. There is a point at which it becomes not cost effective to add salary. If amnestying Miller allows us to spend the MLE on another player that we would otherwise be unable to afford, it comes down to how good that MLE guy is in comparison to Miller.

We don't want to get to a point where Millers $6 million salary costs us $18 million. we'd be better paying him out the $6 million and spending the $3 million on a different player, if he was better than Mike, and the alternative was not signing that guy.

Micky Arison is rich, but giving 12 million a year to other franchises to keep Mike miller is not a good idea if he doesn't produce as much as the guy you would have signed. For example, if Steve Nash doesn't care about money and will take the 3 mill, you dump Miller in a second (though if Steve Nash is willing to pay for $3 mill, you are probably going to make enough additional money to cover without amnestying).
