Norris Cole

Post#1 » by HornetJail » Wed Jun 6, 2012 7:06 am

Haven't followed the Heat that closely. I've seen a few games here and there this season and I was wondering what you guys see in Norris Cole. He had a few good games early in the season, but to me, he's looked like a fringe NBA talent every time I've watched him play. He appears to be an athletic guy who can make a big play here and there, but is ultimately not very good. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but he seems like a poor man's Jeff Teague, an athletic guard who can explode, make a big play every now and then, but is essentially very mediocre. I don't really see either as a capable point guard and if it was up to me, I'd cut Cole's minutes and play Lebron or Wade as the point guard more often.

Is he a lot better than what I'm saying or is it poor judgment by Spo to give him the minutes he's getting?

He is a rookie with a shortened training camp. This should answer all your questions.

That run back play was pure magic though.
I remember when the Dolphins were perennial contenders

Okay, before the AS break this kid was very good.

He was fast, actually had a jumper, pushed the pace on this team, and we thrived when he would actually pass.

But he has been a chucker, can't even finish at the rim without getting blocked (even by RAY ALLEN), doesn't pass much anymore, and makes stupid fouls.

I agree that because of a shortened season, no training camp, barely any practice, he is not up to his potential.

I think he will be key for us next year by actually being a spark off the bench. I don't know what happened at the AS break, this whole team in general fell off a cliff and forgot how to play Heat ball for awhile.

Oh yeah and he is great defensively. I really thought that steal on Rondo was fantastic. Now THAT'S why you get back on D.

What I mostly like about him, he helps us against quick guards. Mario Chalmers isn't very good against fast PG's at all. But Cole gives us something different in that department. He can be a bonehead but his defense against quick PG's help us.

Before the season he was praised as the second coming of jesus on here.
Started out very nicley.
Hit a brick wall multiple times.
Has stepped up during this series.

Basically give him minutes in the summer league and a full training camp lol. ALSO Rio is impressing me.

Return to Miami Heat
