Congrats from OKC
Congrats to all the true Heat fans with a Miami and/or FL connection who have been there throughout the years, supporting the team. Well deserved. To all the rest of the bandwagon fans who've never even been to Miami, never been to a game, and who jumped on the bandwagon when Lebron came to town - well, that's your right I guess, but it's fairly lame. You can tell who these guys are on this board. They can't talk basketball. They just throw F bombs and post pictures. Do you REAL Miami fans not get annoyed by all the bandwagon fans that make the rest of the good fans look foolish? Legit and honest question.

You have no idea how much ridicule the rest of the world dumped on the Heat for 365 days and whomever was a fan of the Heat had to eat it for that time in silence.

Thunderfan87, you need to relax. At the end of the day, professional sports is entertainment and there will always be certain fans who are more passionate than others. Sports is not a religion. I grew up and learned to appreciate all fans a long time ago. With a team like ours you just have to accept it. I know among my friends who the more passionate fans are, and who I can and cannot talk stats with.
Also you need to admit that questioning fans' dedication, in a thread complaining about refereeing 3 games ago -- a thread written 1 hour into the Heat's celebration, no less -- was not going to pan out.
Congrats to your players for putting up a great run this year, and to Scotty Brooks and your whole coaching staff. But your team's owners can go to hell.
Oh, and for good measure:

Cheers

Yeah, I can imagine it was tough. I mean you've got some good Heat fans and it's a good organization (our TV guy is Grant Long - bandwagon Heat fans probably have no idea who Grant Long is) and you had a lot of crap go down with the whole Lebron thing and the way he chose to do certain things (which he regrets now) and a lot of people under the impression that Miami was already crowning themselves champs before the season started, so naturally the world kinda goes against them. But I give Miami all the credit, Lebron is 100% legit and the best player in the game. So yeah its anyone's right to be a "fan" of whatever team they want to, but I just think it's pretty lame that there's a lot of these Heat "fans" now who are just fans since the Lebron era and they want to talk smack and act ridiculous.

I'm with you. LIke I said above, most Heat fans probably have no idea who Grant Long is - which is hilarious.

Hey, I was just looking for a reasonable response and some sort of half educated discussion on basketball. Irritating when you just get a bunch of punks replying with pictures. IT's pretty apparent they are of the bandwagon, ignorant variety Heat fan, so I called them out a little.
I don't claim to fully have a complete grasp on the details of how the whole Seattle to OKC thing went down and certainly do not claim that it was all fair. However, it is what it is and the people in OKC at the end of the day were given the team and we've done our job in passionately supporting them. So I can't apologize for that.

first, it's somewhat difficult to attend a game when you live 6 hours away from any NBA team and over a day's drive to Miami. Second, some bandwagon fans turn into real fans, so they don't bother me that much. What bothers me is people keep pointing it out like we should be ashamed or something. The Heat won; they're going to get bandwagon fans. Some fans can only dream of the day when their team has bandwagoners.

Well as an OKC fan I am sure you are real dedicated to this team. I mean what you have been a franchise for like 4 years now so all you guys are hard core. Wait till your team has a couple of 10 - 15 win seasons and then let me know how many of your OKC buddies are still as die hard as they are right now. Interest comes and goes but this is not a time to be calling out certain fans and saying who is a better fan then others. If the Heat winning makes you happy good for you enjoy it, if not move on to something else. In the end it is just entertainment and their is no reason to tell anyone else how to enjoy it.

Going to games is the measurement of being a fan? You know how much it costs and if you don't live down the road it is tough to get there.

If you dont like bandwagon heat fans why are you a thunder fan posting on a heat message board?
Common sense would suggest one would venture to the Oklahoma board no?

I agree - going to games is not a measure of your fan status. nothing personal guys. People are entitled to be fans of whichever team they choose. I like to visit other teams boards just to get other opinions and perspectives of fans of other teams. Bandwagon fans exist for all teams, i just get a little irritated when some of them act like douches when in reality they know very little about basketball, can't have intelligent discussions about games and are only fans because the team has Lebron and is winning and they somehow relate the Heat's success to them being cool or something. But that's their choice. I just get irritated when they act like idiots.

I in no way implied that the OKC city or fan base has to apologize for what the owners did to Seattle. I said they can go to hell, not your whole city. You guys are darlings in the media and it's not without reason.
You're just not going to get educated responses one hour after a team just won a championship. That in and of itself is not a very educated decision!

****, man. I guess I'm not a real fan. I mean, I live in Europe and I've only seen the Heat in person twice, when they came a few years ago and played in Paris and London.
And I've been a Bulls fan when I started watching basketball (looking back, I was a fan of Jordan, Pippen, Rodman and the rest of the team + Phil Jackson but not a fan of the organization).
I started watching the Heat when Zo got to Miami and started to appreciate the organization and the fact that they're in it to win, not to make money (like Reinsdorf). And they became my 2nd favorite team, and then my favorite when Jordan retired in '98. So I guess I am some kind of bandwagon fan, right ?
In which case, dear thunderfan78, you facetious prick, you start a thread under what seems to be some good intentions only to take a swipe at Heat fans, so F YOU and GTFO. Compliments are welcome if they're genuine, not some underhanded **** Skip Bayless style.

I guess I'm not a Heat fan either then, I live in Massachusetts lol. I've supported LeBron James for many years and to see him finally win a title means a lot to me. I can't wait to see them again when they come to the TD Garden next season!
Thunder fans, this is what happens when your lying bastard of an owner feeds lamb testicles to his employees and moves a team he said would be staying put. Karma's a bxtch.

Re: Congrats from OKC
Being from Dallas and having gone to school in Oklahoma for over 4 years, I can tell you that OKC is no stranger to bandwagon fans. A huge number of other college students from Texas became Thunder fans whenever OKC started doing really well, "turning their backs" on the Mavericks, Spurs or Rockets. I understand, because the Thunder are a really exciting team and have energized the entire state, but don't come to a winning teams board and call out "bandwagon fans". You probably didn't know anything about the Thunder organization whenever they moved to OKC, and the fact that you don't even know how the whole move went down? C'mon man.
While Thunder fans are really enthusiastic, I've had a number of bad experiences with them. Being a huge Mavericks fan didn't make that any easier, but I went to a number of Thunder games and had several interactions with obnoxious, ignorant, entitled, and just plain rude Thunder fans.
Congrats Miami. As much as I hate to see you guys win, it sure as hell doesn't feel bad to see OKC lose.
