Exactly was going to explain the same thing, for a great film there seems to be a whole lot of nitpicking. And Nolan had no intentions of making the movie open ended, the whole "Robin" thing was more of a nod to comic book fans or something.

It's a 3 hour movie and I saw it once. I wasn't exactly taking notes during it all. One line of dialogue doesn't change that fact that the whole sequence was poorly made. It took him 22 days, but it felt like 30 seconds in movie time.

My point was that not everything in the movie made sense. Like the bat symbol on the bridge

That, and it was an explanation for bruce to leave. He wasn't going to leave without a replacement
