Really impressed by Jorts. I'd have to think he cemented his spot on the roster with that performance. As for the last spot, I think I would take either Temple or Carney over Harris, and I like Harris. But he's so limited offensively, and can't handle the ball at all. I like Carney's shooting and Temple's size and ball handling. The fact that he can play the point in a pinch might give him the edge, although I think Carney has been a little better than him overall in the preseason. We're just so deep on the wing already.

BTW, if the Rashard Lewis of last night is the Rashard Lewis we get most of the time this season, or the Rashard Lewis we get in the playoffs, no one is beating us. Period. Very pleased to see him play that well.

Wade also looked really good, though I'm still waiting to see that jumper he supposedly has been working on. The important thing is seeing his movement. He doesn't look slowed by the knee whatsoever. Looks really fluid out there.

Continue to be impressed with Cole. Still has some WTF moments but he has mostly been very solid and his jumper looks significantly improved. He's going to really push Chalmers this year, which we saw last year was a really good thing. Mario almost always responds when Cole plays really well.

I feel like this team is ready for the season to start. I know I'm ready. I would like to see Chalmers and UD get some game time next week before the season starts.

This quote from Lewis after the game is encouraging:

“I’m not there yet,” Lewis said. “I’m still working on it. Everything’s still a process. Just feel like I haven’t played the game of basketball in so long. I’m just trying to get my legs up under me. I’m starting to get a feel of playing with these guys out on the court.”

Considering he had his 15 in 20 minutes, I'm hopeful he can explode for 20 a few times this season.

Look at the way he scored yesterday:

- 18 foot jumper out of the high-post when his defender sagged back as he held the ball. Showed a confidence we hadn't seen out of him yet.

- Post move against a smaller defender

- 3 3's. Two spotting up, one off an inbounds when the defense never came to him. Another good sign of aggressiveness.

- Drive after an overzealous close out, leading to a nice floater at the rim.

That's pretty awesome variety for a guy still in such early stages of a return from injury on a new team. Looking forward to seeing more. I've always loved his offensive game, and was really upset when we tried to sign him in '07 and wound up with Smush and Penny.
