Question Regarding Three Kings of South Beach's Future

Post#1 » by BlackBerry » Tue Feb 19, 2013 6:52 am

Hi guys I know many of you guys seem to think after the 2014 season the three Kings of South Beach may split. I have a few questions. Before I ask the question I have to admit I am a heat "bandwagon fan", I am from Toronto but when Bosh took his talents to South Beach and I heard LeBron was going to joining Bosh + Wade, made sense for me to take my support there. Yes I admit it but, hey that isn't the point.

1. After 2014 season, what are the chances that LeBron, Bosh and Wade can stick together
2. Why have the heat not used there Amnesty clause? I mean they might as well use it sooner than later, to retain the big three.
3. From the big three, who is most likely to be traded to keep LeBron in south beach?
4. LeBron bosh and wade are supposed to stay till 2016, so why is everyone say'ing they will leave after 2014? (is it cause of the type of contract they signed?)

Thanks.

I think if the Heat can get LBJ/Wade/Bosh to sign for less and just stay under the luxury tax for one season (as to avoid the repeat-offender tax increase), I think they're Heat for life.

Of course, if the Heat sponsors and affiliates are seeing a good return on their investment that comes with having the Big 3 in Miami and hopefully winning more titles, they might be willing to help foot the bill. Kinda like how Time Warner is paying the Lakers salary. Easier said than done though, because Miami is not a big market.

But yeah, the CBA was specifically written to break our team up so we'll just have to see how everything plays out.

As for your Questions:
1. Already gave my answer.
2. Not quite sure, I think they're waiting to see how everything plays out. It's funny how the Heat were the only ones that didn't benefit from the Amnesty clause like the rest of the garbage GMs in the league.
3. Good question, tough to answer. Wade is the oldest, but that's tough to see happening.
4. Because they have an opt-out clause and everyone thinks their team is gonna sign them. Kinda like the 2010 FA.

I think the only way we keep them is if they opt out and then we resign them on smaller contracts. Otherwise, the luxury tax burden and the fact that we're not a small market will likely become way too much of a burden. I think it will come down to how much the three want to continue to sacrifice (already on a less than max contract) and how many championships they think they can continue to win here. I don't see any reason why they couldn't all stay here, but it's not my money and I know $$$ talks.
