On paper, easiest championship run we've had?

Post#1 » by Nick Saban » Sun Apr 7, 2013 3:13 am

in 2011, we had Philly round 1, grueling round 2 matchup with Boston, Great Chicago team in the ECF, before finally losing to a hot Mavs team in the Finals.

In 2012, I believe this was the toughest road. Very tough Knicks team in round 1. Tough Pacers team in Round 2. Grueling series with Boston in the ECF, then beat the young OKC in the finals.

2013 outlook? By far looking like the easiest path. Before the season started, in my mind, there were 7 contenders, 2 wannabee contenders, and the rest of the league was garbage.

The Contenders
1. Heat
2. Knicks
3. Lakers
4. Thunder
5. Spurs
6. Clippers
7. Grizzlies

Wannabees (close, but just not quite there)
1. Celtics
2. Pacers

Now, lets look at what has happened to these 9 teams....

The Contenders
1. Heat: Looking great, and getting plenty of late season rest.
2. Knicks: Amare OUT
3. Lakers: Just a terrible Season so far. World Peace to miss round 1. Numerous players playing with injury.
4. Thunder: Kevin Martin ain't no James Harden, and they will painfully figure that out once the playoffs start.
5. Spurs: Manu and Tony Parker literally limping into the playoffs.
6. Clippers: Decent season...just not worried about them.
7. Grizzlies: Traded Rudy Gay, they will regret that in the playoffs.

Wannabees (close, but just not quite there)
1. Celtics: Rondo Out
2. Pacers: Danny Granger out

Other Teams
1. Bulls: Rose and Taj out
2. Nuggets: Gallinari Out

Now looking ahead to our possible 2013 run....Round 1 is looking like the Bucks. No disrespect to them...but that's ALOT easier than last year, when we played NYK in round 1.
Round 2: The winner of Brooklyn and Chicago. Either matchup seems easier than last years rd 2 vs the pacers. bulls dont even have rose. ECF and Finals are looking easier too with the loss of certain injured players and trades that happened since last year. what do yall think?
