Miami AM/FM radio live game options for playoffs

Post#1 » by Mesa » Tue Apr 16, 2013 6:30 pm

I live and work in Miami. I record all Heat games on Comcast HD DVR (and watch them once i'm off), however while at work there are areas where only audio-radio-WiFi is available and the AM 790 (even the 104.3FM) reception is terrible.

Since we have WiFi at work, I was looking for alternatives and/or suggestions LIVE Heat audio iPhone/Android apps. I ran into this problem last year during The Finals. I had all sorts of Heat apps and 790The Ticket and other radio apps and none of them actually aired in audio, The Finals. All they had was commercials like the game was coming on but the The Finals live games did not come on.

I'm not sure if this problem I had was only due to it being The Finals or if this is gonna be with all playoff games.

I know the Heat Nation goes beyond the boundaries of Miami-Dade County, so I was hoping to get suggestions on how others outside of SoFl who only have an audio option to hear the games live, what are the options out there?

Theres a web browser in the App store called "Skyfire"

It is unique in that it lets you play flash website video/audio in it.

Last year i was able to go to a site which will not be named, but is basically the FIRST best ROW site SPORTS to .EU find streams of the games.

You can then watch the streams on your iPhone

I have Skyfire and your right about it doing flash. I was just basically looking for a user friendly audio option via the web since this connection will go thru the my work. I wouldn't want to end up on a site that's not "work" friendly. Some jobs are picky about certain sites, not sure if that would be one of them.

I've heard the NBA League pass was free for audio, I would think that's incorrect and maybe I heard wrong.

I had ESPN Radio on during the Finals and it only carried commercials. I'm not sure if its because I'm in Miami.

I'm not sure if this was a Finals thing. All I know is that 790AM The Tickect said it would carry it's games on some app that they had but then for The Finals it was only on commercials too. I called them after The Finals and they said that the did not have "Rights" to broadcast The Finals over the internet.

Truthfully, I'm just looking for someone to explain this to me like i'm 10years old, cause I need more clarity.

EDIT:I was able to see the games leading up to The Finals on my iPhone via a Comcast/TNT app but the Finals are on ABC so that app did not work.

In the past when I got the NBA league pass app for iPhone it had an option (for $$$) to get radio streams. I'm sure that is still available. I think it's a ripoff but maybe the prices are better now.

Because of that "official" NBA option for audio streams I don't think 790 has the right to stream Heat games over their iPhone app. They'll likely play "best of Lebatard" or some crap like that during the game.

That said....there are non-legit "nba streams" available on the net. I can't post any here cause of the forum rules but they are easy to google. I've seen every game and I don't even have cable much less a TV

Thanx for clearing this up for me. Now I get it.

Plus, with the ESPN radio app you can pretty much get any ESPN radio feed from any city in the country.

I've been streaming radio from a site online for the last few years. It's been pretty reliable and sometimes you have the option to listen to the home or away commentary team for kicks. Anyhow I guess it streams league pass MP3 of ROCKET games for .ME from the /RADIO station. Google is your friend. Hopefully that will come in handy.

Thanx for all the feedback. I'm comfortable that this riddle been solved and I won't have any issues I had during last year's playoffs.

Game one is being shown on TNT Overtime. It's not the same feed as on TV but it it's pretty good quality and shows different camera angles. Direct link is on the nba.com homepage. Would be a good place to check for any future games on TNT.

Also, 790 the ticket's FM station will simulcast the game whenever a Marlins game doesn't conflict with it. You should be able to get that inside a building.

Nice find on the TNT Overtime.

Last nite at work 790The Ticket iPhone app was NOT airing the game NOR was it on ESPN RADIO app.

Yesterday the Marlins played like 1pm and by 7pm the Heat game was not aired on their app. Keep in mind i'm trying to access the game via iPhone not on AM radio.

Yet, before the Heat game ESPN Radio was airing the Lakers game but at 7pm it went to something non-nba. Even on the ESPN Radio app it shows many cities all even ESPN W.Palm Beach (but it was a talk show) but except Miami. I'm just wondering if those that live outside of South Florida could listen to the game via ESPN Radio?

Or is there some form of "blackout" rule or something because i'm in Miami?

Anyways I've give the TNT Overtime a shot next time. Or on the the NBA app it says to pay $2.99 for Audio playoffs. If that's just a one time fee I wouldn't care to pay that, but not sure if that fee is per game.

I can understand why video of the NBA is harder to find online but I'm just looking for Audio for those nights i'm at work. I would have thought that was easier, considering that's its aired for free in AM/FM locally.
