Re: Joakim Noah's Techs
yeah, Phil had the touch too; kinda like the horse whisperer, so he could get Jordan and others to get along. Riley has it too. Hopefully, Spo will acquire it - tonight's game is going to be crazy since it could be the Bull's last home game for the year.

Why? Zo was a big time hot head before he came to Miami.
It wasn't a totally serious comment. I am very aware of Alonzo Mourning's court temperament throughout his career.
Being a lifelong Heat fan, whether based in reason or not, I don't enjoy a comparison between my favorite player of all time and the scum of the earth.
He can also make parallel Noah and Zo because they both have 2 hands. Doesn't mean I wanna hear it.
Plus, Zo was a hot head in a different way than Noah. Zo was never really the type to go into games looking to get in people's heads or set a tone with antics, he was more the target of that actually. Zo had a short fuse and would not hesitate to retaliate. Noah is a clown
If Noah was on the Heat you'd love him and kiss his ass.
He plays hard all the time, plays through injuries, plays both ends of the floor, can bring the crowd into it and plays with heart and passion.
If you like Birdman, you'd love Noah. And he'd fit very well with this team. He's very much the type of player Riley loves.
In fact, I hope Reinsdorf somehow mistreats him so when his contract is over Riley can work his magic on him and bring him to the Heat. I would laugh my ass off watching Bulls fans flip their **** and call him a traitor.
And before you say it's impossible and Lebron would never play with him, that's probably what people thought about Jordan and Rodman in the early 90s.
Thanks for the heads up on what I'd like. But, no. Is he an asset and really good player? Absolutely. Would I appreciate having one of the better defensive and rebounding centers in the NBA? Yes. Do I respect the fact that he goes so hard all the time? Most definitely.
Do I think his character is in the toilet and he is an individual of limited mental capacity and doesn't have the filter that ought to go along with that? Without question.
I just don't enjoy the comparison of Zo and Noah based on intensity as if there isn't a range of ways in which that intensity can manifest. Zo was a true warrior, Noah can be at times, but he goes about his efforts with clown-like tendencies. Zo was the quiet big man that goes from silent and brooding to exploding. Noah is always a joke.

You know who else got taken for a clown ?
Rodman.
But that "clown" was a 5 time champion, a 7 time rebounding champion (despite his size) and one of the best defenders in the league. I saw him do a good job defending Shaq by himself when Shaq was in his prime, that's how good he was. And he was essential for the Bulls 2nd 3peat.
I'd take Noah over a lot of players, including supposed superstars like Melo or Griffin.

I'm not sure what you're arguing here. I never discredited Noah as a player nor did I steer the conversation to a direction of which players I'd take. Noah is a very good player, he is also a joke of a human being, much like Rodman (have you read about his trip to North Korea?).
I have a sensitive spot when it comes to Zo. He is my favorite player of all time. I am that guy that would argue in the late 90s that Zo was on or right near Shaq's level because of his superior defensive prowess (obviously Shaq is the all time more dominant player). I don't want to judge you based on your join date, but I understand if you are a newer Heat fan and don't have that same care for this. Not sure why you're bringing up Rodman though, as if that somehow diminished what I was arguing. Rodman is a ridiculous person, as is Noah. Thanks.

How is Noah a joke of a human being? He's never in trouble with the law and is basically just a fun loving dude. He's been known to smoke some doobs though, so i guess if you think anyone who smokes doobs is a joke of a human being then there ya go.

Cliff Levingston personally thought Zo was a little bitch for much of his career, just like you think seem to think of Noah. Perhaps it has to do with fandom and one's perspective. That, and Cliff Levingston has grown up quite a bit since Zo's career was in it's prime.
You know who's a ridiculous human being? Michael Jordan. Womanizer, compulsive gambler, bitter and vindictive.

It most definitely has much to do with fandom and one's perspective. And as a fan on my team's fan board, I think this may just be the right place to express such perspectives.
Not sure what bringing Jordan up has to do with anything (but I agree with your take on Jordan). Not sure what bringing arrests up has to do with anything. If you think one's character can be gauged adequately by looking at a police record, then you may not have grown up as much as you think. Noah has always come off as an immature passionate competitor that doesn't know how to control his emotions so they manifest in his ridiculous demeanor and immature antics. This is my perception based on my limited exposure to him since his days at UF. Granted, I am predisposed to dislike Noah as he is both a gator and a bull, but he has definitely not helped to lessen that in any way.
You know better than me that the team voted to bench Noah his rookie year because of his immaturity, and said immaturity has not gone away since. It has most notably seen this season by Thibs benching Noah for the 4th Q and OT of a game against Memphis because of how he handled himself. This is just further seen in his little tantrums and attention-seeking acts this series.

During this series I do. Starting next week he won't be on the radar of my mind for a year.
(must admit the only reason I have specific references of his immaturity on hand is because I recently read a realgm thread speaking particularly about his immaturity, which confirmed much of my position towards him).
Don't understand how any Heat fan doesn't hate the guy though.

Oh, right, the join date. Because not being on realgm means not watching basketball.
Funny that you mention that, cause you joined in 2008. Zo had already retired by then. Does it mean you didn't really watch Zo ?
Just FYI, I was a huge Jordan fan in the 90's and the Heat were my 2nd favorite team because of Zo - my 2nd favorite player. After Jordan retired, I realized what a joke Reinsdorf really is and that his goal is making money, not winning titles. As a result, I stopped watching the Bulls and the Heat became my favorite team.
A little side-note: I choose the teams I follow somewhat rationally. The ownership must be willing to spend to win (I am not wasting my time and energy on someone who doesn't give a ****) and I have to like the players on the team. Since Pat Riley came to the Heat, I really liked the Heat organization, and that is part of why I am a Heat fan.
That was further cemented in 2004 when I saw Wade playing. He became my favorite player because he was the closest to Jordan that we've seen since '98. Not even Kobe has dominated like that, especially not in the playoffs.
And it so happened that besides Wade, my other favorite NBA player was one Lebron James. Late 2007 I knew Riley was going for Lebron (and was hoping he'd get Bosh, too - remember, he could have picked Boozer or Amare). I was (quietly) confident he would pull it off, and when Bosh signed, I joined realgm to share my reasoning for being fairly confident that Lebron was gonna join the Heat.
So what do you think ?
Do I have enough basketball credentials to qualify as a Heat fan ?
Can I speak about Zo and Noah and compare them ? Cause they play(ed) with the same passion, with the same heart. And that's what I love about a player.

I want the Heat to win, naturally, and I can still admit opponents on the other team are good too. Enjoy watching these guys; they won't be around forever.

Ok pretty much confirmed my hunch that you're a bulls fan. That explains your posturing in regards to Noah. You're just a different type of fan than me. Not hating on it, just don't really appreciate it either. Must be weird for you this series though.
Lucky for you, my impression of your fandom has zero barring on your life! So, yeah, good talk

That's a novel concept. It seems you are insinuating I fail to admit when opponents on the other team are good, though, which is a notion that can be discredited by simply reading through my posts on this thread and seeing I particularly gave props to Noah as a player and competitor on multiple occasions.
I just enjoy partaking in some of the jarring that comes along with fandom. Especially when it is as instigated as it has been this series by the Bulls and their fans. Or are we too civilized for that? Above being fans? The bulls fan board is quite different. Over there everyone associated with Miami anything is spawned by Satan and has been cheating their whole lives.

Noah has grown up a lot since his rookie season. Cliff Levingston isn't aware of some team vote to bench him due to his immaturity. Joakim openly admitted that he needed to step up his work level when he got to the NBA as most professional athletes realize once making the jump from college to the pros. Cliff Levingston is also aware that Scott Skiles was an idiot and held back Joakim his first year in the league.
Joakim has never played any different than he does now. Cliff Levingston doesn't agree with him shoving Birdman off Nate when he was also getting off of him, but he does clap a lot, he does look to get reactions from the crowd, he tries to get into the opponents' heads. You don't like it because he plays for a rival and you would probably learn to like it or at least tolerate it if he played for your team. It's alright: us Bulls fans went through the same thing when we got Dennis Rodman.

I would of course learn to like it/tolerate it if it was resulting in benefit for my team. But, I'd never be a real fan of his style.

Oh, right, you got me.
You must be pretty smart.
PS: You are the worst kind of fan, the kind of fans that make the Bulls (and Knicks) boards disgusting. The kind that is an absolute homer and turns a blind eye to any reason or logic. The kind that can't give credit where credit is due and when presented with arguments closes his eyes and covers his ears and yells "LA LA LA LA LA LA". The kind with the "if you don't agree with me and absolutely hate everyone on the other team, you are against me".
Funny enough, you probably hate the Bulls fans that are way more similar to you that you will ever know. Because, let's face it, if you happened to be a Bulls (or Knicks, or Lakers) fan, you'd be hating on Lebron with passion right now and refusing to acknowledge his status as the best in the game. You'd be calling him "queen" and "scared" and "choker" and accusing him of colluding and every other crap that haters have been accusing him of.
Now get off your high horse before you fall and injure yourself.
And stop worrying about my fanhood. I don't have anything to prove to you, so begone.

Clearly you have not seen The Hobbit. One does not simply "freeze out" trolls. You have to keep them talking/distracted till the sun comes up and then they turn to STONE!!
