This is a hard ass question for real...

In Birdman's short amount of time that he's played here compared to Ray who's played here all season for us, Birdman has been very valuable and has even brought some athleticism (which is shocking to me at his age) & he's able to finish lobs for us at the center position...

Even tho when Ray driving to the rim pisses me off, he's a huge part of why are ball movement is so great this year because he spreads the floor for us...

I'll bump this thread and answer this question when the playoffs are done because it's just too tough for me to answer right now...

Only one of these guys had a chance not to be on a NBA team. There's a reason for that. Birdman is important, but nowhere near the caliber player Ray is, and that alone makes him far less replaceable.

Birdman is an essential part of us having an easy run. We can win without him but if we use him properly he makes it easy to rebound, defend the paint, get easy lobs and putbacks. However taking Ray from Boston was the key signing this offseason period. Ray knows the game of basketball and no doubt is having an effect on play calls in practice, on the floor and in the lockeroom. At his age its amazing what he can still do. One offseason with Chalmers or Cole following him around would be golden.

Great blog.

My opinion is Birdman. He was the missing link and since his arrival the team has lost 3 games I think, went on The Streak and became a better overall balanced squad.

It has enabled us to play small ball and big ball (bosh + bird at the same time) so the options are limitless. We needed an energy player and a true 5 to help Bosh out. We got the chip last year with Bosh at the 5 and playing small ball and may have repeated with the same formula this year but we don't have to. We now have a choice of whatever works against each team, each game or even each stretch.

Dont get me wrong, Ray Ray is a big game player and has already proven he can hit the dagger and have no doubt he will so it again come playoffs.

So it's a tough choice but I slightly sway with the bird.

Awesome post though!!!

I picked Birdman. But maybe Ray instead. When you think about how Ray allowed us to not play Miller, so he's healthy for the playoffs. And all of the game winners. Birdman completed our team though.

Both great pickups, but Ray is a guy that the other team simply cant leave. Opens the floor so much more for lebron wade and bosh. an although the heat have great shooters in miller, chalmers, and battier, ray has no conscious when it comes to hitting big shots in the playoffs. thats where his true value will be shown.

Wow, this is like Sophie‘s freaking Choice here! What outstanding additions. I don't ever remember picking up two bench players in the same year who've had so much impact. I feel unbelievably lucky to choose Ray Allen...

Both have been great this year. Each has their own flaw, but have made a tremendous impact on the team. Both will help us win games in the playoffs... Ray Allen possibly winning a game for us. I voted Birdman just to try to even out the results

I'd go with Birdman if only for the fact that he filled a huge need that we haven't had since the Big 3 formed and the team went on a 27 game winning streak 2 games after we signed him.

I think people forget that Ray was great to start the season and then slumped badly up until the start of the 27 game winning streak. People forget about the rushed 3s right after a defensive possession, the poor defense, and the inconsistency on offense.

Ray's definitely been great as of late though, sans the rushed 3pters after getting a stop on D.

Of course both have been great,

But BIrdman has filled a massive hole on this team. He did it rather quickly too.

Birdman should be leading this poll.

For now, Birdman. After Playoffs, probably Ray.
