Which championship run is your fav?

Post#1 » by dreamchaser » Fri Jun 21, 2013 2:54 pm

This is a thread for long time Heat fans and the ones who started following when the Big 3 formed...

2006
- HEAT comeback from a 2-0 deficit to win the series 4-2 over the Dallas Mavericks to win it's first franchise championship ever.
- Dwyane Wade wins Finals MVP averaging 34.7 ppg, 7.8 rebs & 3.8 asts.
- HEAT finish the regular season (52-30) as the Second seed on the Eastern Conference & finished with the 4th best record in the NBA.

2012
- HEAT win the series 4-1 over the Oklahoma City Thunder
- LeBron James wins Finals MVP averaging 28.6 ppg, 10.2 rebs & 7.4 asts.
- HEAT finish the regular season (46-20) as the Second seed on the Eastern Conference & finished with the 4th best record in the NBA.

2013
- HEAT win series 4-3 over the San Antonio Spurs
- LeBron James wins Finals MVP averaging 25.3 ppg, 10.9 rebs & 7.0 asts.
- HEAT finish the regular season (66-16) as the First seed on the Eastern Conference, 27 Game Winning Streak & Finished with the best record in the NBA.

For me 2006 will always hold a special place in my heart because I was only 14 years old and just witnessing being down 13 with like 6:23 mins left to go in Game 3 I thought it was over. I thought I was going to go through another year of depression because losing to the Pistons in 05 was the worst feeling I've ever felt as a Heat fan. But out of nowhere D-Wade willed us back in Game 3 with one of the best all-time playoff performances & Gary Payton's clutch shot in Game 3 was incredible and I thought it would never be touched. This year's championship had to be the closest thing to it for me. Down 5 with 28 seconds left in Game 6, I thought we were dead for sure. The body language looked liked that of 2011 but LeBron makes a clutch 3 after missing the first wide open 3 he took, Leonard goes to the line and goes 1-2 and Ray Allen solidified himself in HEAT history & added to his incredible legacy with one of the biggest shots of his career. 2012 was a nice run because it was the redemption year but I was still salty over not winning the year before which is why 2012's championship just felt like we were suppose to win it. This year & 06 we had to earn it. Nothing was easy at all...

Hmm good question. Think it was last years for me, whole world calling lebron fragile and saying he could not win the big games and then game 6 celtics happens and winning the first championship of the big 3 era and proving everyone wrong. That year the heat were counted out just about every series and they managed to come back in each one, dont get me wrong I love them all but with all the scrutiny and hating going on that might barely edge out the other 2 for me.

Cant really decide. One could analyze it in all kind of ways, in terms of imprtance, memorability, excitement and what not.

But at the end of the day a mother loves all her children the same, just in different ways.

All 3 were really epic, and so will the next one. 8-)

i'm not sure if I would put any one over the other:

2006- Put the Heat franchise on the map. Never in my dreams would my team would win an NBA title after going from first round fodder into contenders catching bad breaks left and right (losing to that team in ny in heartbreaking fashion; losing Zo to kidney disease after getting Brian Grant & Eddie Jones). D-Wade was truly a savior for the Heat.

2012- Exorcised the demons of 2011, and validation after taking so much **** from everybody about the Decision, etc. Game 6 against Boston was LEGENDARY. Didn't think I'd watch another playoff game that would top it, until...

2013- Wow. I've never seen anything like it. Game 6 of the Finals says it all. Game 7 was a game for the ages. This was the most emotionally draining playoff run, which made winning it all that much better.

2006- It was so amazing to watch Wade that year wow what a season being down 2-0 in the finals and coming back just incredible.

2012- After the debacle in 2011 this one was pretty satisfying watching a great player like LeBron get his first ring it was awesome.

2013- This is the one for me simply because of that game 6 man IT WAS OVER wow I still can't believe how they won that game, I love this team man.

Good question... 2006 man we were down 2-0, Wade was AWESOME, that team was awesome, Zo finally get's a ring. WHITE CHOCOLATE! First ring, and we were the underdogs.

But the fact that there wasn't evens suppose to be game 6, Ray's shot will be remembered forever. This seems more gratifying... BACK TO BACK!! Also were up against a championship team man, the Spurs were NO JOKE. They were the ultimate team that could beat us, from their coach to the players. But we beat the odds. GAME 7! And I love the last 2 back to back titles, we've been at home enjoying it. I'm not sure if we were the underdogs, it seems a lot just wanted us to lose and instead of just saying that they would say SA would beat us. Also more gratifying because people hate our guts man, there are other people from our rival teams who act like we beat them for the title lol. In 2006 no one hated us like this.

2012 was good too, but I felt like the Boston series was better than the actual Finals. But it was nice for our team to get it's first ring together, was happy for LeBron too. But it seems like a blur.

2006 was my fav. it was surreal that we were even in the finals and those last games our confidence was so high it was like destiny. I didnt have the hate for referees then or bad calls. 2006 still the best as a Heat fan. As a basketball fan this Finals was one of the best but I wasnt in shock like I was for the 2006 one.

2006. I was like 13 watching people go insane dowtown in Miami on the news, and we made some amazing comebacks during the run. Also Wade dominated the Pistons and Mavericks and literally turned into a superstar in front of everyone

For some reason this series resonates more with me then last years. Last years felt great, but it seemed anti-climactic, and the REAL challenge was the Celtics in the ECF, and the Finals didn't really have many SIGNATURE plays , other than the cramp 3 from Lebron.

This year the Pacers and the Spurs pushed us to the limit. Lebron had that HUGE block, Wade had a throwback game, Ray Allen hit one of the most career/season defining shots I've ever witnessed live, and Lebron did what he wouldn't have done before last year, which is shake off his terrible play and dominate the final game of the season, ending the game with a dagger and 2 clutch FTs.

This was the most exhausted I've been watching basketball in a long time.

2013, i think doing back to back championships is tough feat. even spurs not done it.

but nice stat, last 8 years 3 championships plus 1 finals.

I kind of have a similar view towards 2006 as Wade. I only started watching basketball a few years prior to that so seeing my team win so soon, you don't really appreciate it the way you should. I mean, looking back, it was a hell of a run but in the moment, I couldn't really grasp how hard it was to do.

I'm gonna go with 2012, finally shutting up the talking heads, fans of other teams, critics of our players was great and the OKC series felt like one big victory lap to me.

I think, objectively, this run had the best games to watch as a neutral observer though.

This one was my favorite, We played a great team a legacy team, and it was highly competitive. It pushed us to our limits and we overcame!! Unlike the Shaq and Kobe Lakers, you can never say we played a weak team in the finals ever. Mavs, Thunder and Spurs on our resume!!

I didnt realize that 2012 Finals..

LeBron's stats were almost as good/if not as good as DWade's 2006 finals.

Now Wade's was in more epic fashion.

35/8/4
29/10/7

WOW two of the greatest finals in NBA history.

I still say that if LeBron's jumper was working for a full series in both 2012 and 2013..

He would have put up 32/10/7 in last years finals.

And if his jumper was working and he got respect from the refs...He would have put up 30/11/7 in this years finals (However he did average 31.7/11 boards the last 4 games...)

So in all..

2006 will probably be the best example of a player changing around a series.

2012 was finally seeing a team dominate like we all thought they could (Bosh started playing well. Wade avg 23/7/7)

2013 will be the most memorable league wide 30 years from now.

All are so special. 2006 was amazing being it was our first, down 0-2 and down 13 in game 3... Looking like we were about to get swept. All season didn't seem like it was clicking. 2005, seemed like we lost our shot and that team had better chemistry. This team was also KILLED a lot in the media similar to our 2011 team. Not as much scrutiny but people forget, a lot of the same stuff said in 2011 by the hating media was said about the 2006 team." Too many peoole that want the ball" or "too many egos".. "they should have kept the 2005 team together". SVG stepping down, tough fist round chicago series, nets blowing us out game 1 in the second round... Then taking on a juggernaut pistons team that year with no HCA. Things finally clicked... Amazing run. Never thought I would see MY team win a title. Amazing

2012 was amazing to come back after the 2011 meltdown, everyone counting us out in every series to finally shut the haters up.

2013 to validate the Big 3.. BACK TO BACK!!!

Alll amazing. I think I felt more genuine glee for 2006 and 2012 and 13 mire a relief to shut everyone up.
