I'd like to see his legacy be as the most "unselfish" superstar of all time. His work in getting LeBron and Bosh here, as well as his willingness to take a back seat to LeBron, have given him a good start to that title. So has his accepting less money to make it happen. I'd like to see him take that up a notch or two in the following ways: (1) opting out to take a deal with a substantially lower cap hit in the first year (probably with a longer deal to recoup that money) in order to help add another significant player next offseason; and (2) accepting a role as 6th man if necessary. I think Wade could/would be the best 6th man of all time and it would allow him to enter the game guns blazing and playing his way, as opposed to a compromized style deferring to LeBron. We could easily still find him 30-36 mins per game off the bench and it would allow us to start with more of a shooter lineup surrounding LeBron at the beginning of games. In the Olympics, Wade was incredible coming off the bench and I think it could give the team a little different dimension/dynamic.

Yeah, Magic gave him that title/legacy after we won the championship. Very fitting.

D-Wade is the king of Miami sports.
In my eyes it goes.

Wade
Marino
Jimmy Johnson
Don Shula
Zo

He's also a top 3 SG all time and too me it's not even debatable.

People are too soon to forget #3.

He's the reason I became a Heat fan in 2003.

Here in Spain, his nickname was "The blast Wade" in his first years, and it was impressive to watch a rookie playing with that kind of passion or heart.

I've been fighting with a lot of discussions of bullsh*t talking about trade him or people inventing that LeBron should go in 2014 because is uncomfortable playing at the same time on the court.

#3 is one of the most sacrificied athletes in terms of building a dinasty or make an impact happen on and off the court. 'Fall seven times, stand up eight!'

That's because the league doesn't like Dwyane Wade. ;)

Wade has won as many rings as kobe did in ten seasons. averaged more points, rebounds, blocks, steals, and assists with a better fg% and a finals mvp to go with it. through ten years wade has had better career. the longevity of kobe's career has been remarkable

Wade shoots the ball less than 16 times and averaged 21 on 52%. that is a solid "decline" lol but because LeBron is on the team it is over shadowed. Its funny wade and tony parker had very similar numbers this past year, but parker was considered as an MVP candidate. . I have wade in the top 3 of sg of all-time, I have him at number 3 behind Jordan obviously, but I can respect an argument kobe is ahead of him right now. But for the people that say jerry west, Drexler, miller, gervin, etc... we need to have a long talk

what i miss most about wade's game is that nobody who could get between him and the basket when he chose to drive

Even the biggest Wade detractors cannot deny his uncanny ability to rise to the occasion. His legacy as one of our generations top talents in irrefutable.

Exactly, people are really into longevity because that is about the only argument you can make for Kobe over Wade. The only other things are volume scoring and all-nba teams, which usually don't stand up to more than a few sentences of debate. As far as longevity goes, is Wade having 10 years as a top SG not enough to move longevity to the side of the debate? I personally don't care about longevity that much unless there is a good reason. If Jordan only played 10 years, would anyone care? Would KG be ranked much differently if he had retired in 08? Personally, I'd rank Kobe higher all-time if he had retired after his last title but put up a little better efficiency/defense/etc in his last two title runs. To me, a healthy Wade in the post-season >>> prime Kobe.

I am a Pistons fan, and it was super obvious between 04 and 05 who was better between Kobe and Wade. I initially wanted to root for Kobe in those match ups, who I enjoyed as an exciting player, but Wade was just better since his second year. He was more efficient on offense, always made the right play for his team, played great defense, and was a great leader since the time Shaq arrived. If Wade had played more years a post-prime 04-05 level Shaq he would have won more.

I'd also say Wade was the best player of the 2011 finals and played well enough to earn a second finals MVP. It is stupid people overlook his dominance just because of team success. He was dominant (again) against a great Boston team too. If Miami gets a good opponent that does not require LeBron to carry them, there is a chance he gets another finals MVP (I say that because I don't see Wade likely to be better than LeBron very often in the remainder of his career). Even if he doesn't ever get healthy and resume his good form in the post-season again, he will at least be the best SG in the game and play a key role for the Heat.

I would say Wade massively loses to Kobe in marketing. I'm slightly curious how Wade would be viewed by the public if he had been in LA.
