1st Miami Heat game ever 4 myself

Post#1 » by MiamiGermany » Mon Jan 13, 2014 8:38 pm

Hey guys! Me and my friend are from Germany and we'll visit Miami for the first time in our life from 23rd January until 30th January. Since we are probably the biggest Heat fans out of Europe I would like to ask for your advise in regard to Heat games. We already have tickets against the Lakers, Spurs and Oklahoma. These will be our first NBA games and we are very excited to be part of something great like our beloved Heat. We watched every playoff game and a lot of regular season games in the last 10 years even though we had to go to school or work the next day. To be honest it was hard many times because we are 6 hours in front of your local time so these games have often gone until 5-6 a.m. but the love we have for this game and our team was always worth it.

Now it's about damn time to make our dream come true after 10 long years! So it would be great and I would really appreciate it if you guys could give us some advise to make the most out of these 3 games.

Is it possible to go courtside when they warm up? Or after the game? Maybe take photos with somebody? Is there something else we have to consider? If you need to know we have seats for section 308, 309 & 326. Does anybody know how the view is from up there?

Many thanks in advance and please excuse my bad english.
I look forward to every response!!!

I think it should be possible when they warm-up. It's been a long time since I attended a game though. I've been out of the country for years now.

Enjoy your game BTW!!!!!

Just get to the game early and head to the 100 level and wait by the heat locker room and when you see a player you could ask him for a picture or an autograph.

Enjoy the game BTW!!

I don't live in S. Florida anymore, so I go to maybe 1 or 2 games a year. Those seats you have are very good for the price. They're center/side court, so you get a real good view of the entire floor. I always sit in those seats, for the price sec. 307-310 and 323-326 are really good. It's much better than sitting in one of the corner sections, and even better than directly behind the baseline in the lower section (unless ofcourse you're with in the first 15 rows).

So, you'll definitely have fun.

As far as player interaction goes, you won't get anything from them after the game as they all rush off fairly quickly. Remember traffic can be terrible, so plan accordingly. Even if you get there too early, you can just walk over to Bayside to kill time. As others have said go early and try to slip down through the lower (100 sec) section. Go early enough that there isn't a guard by the entrance section, or just be cool and walk down like you know where you're going without making eye contact with the guard. They're usually pretty chill early on, but as tipoff gets near, they become more stricter.

Also, be sure to try to catch some shirts. Don't be one of those guys that are too cool for free shirts. Enjoy the experience. Throughout the game people will come in your sec/area asking you to make noise and then they throw the shirts. Wholeheartedly get into the whole atmosphere.

Also, if the game gets intense, don't be shy about making fast friends with people around you. A few years ago I went to our triple OT game against Utah, where Wade dropped 50-10-9. That game was so damn amazing, and the crowd experience made it even better. Just b/c it's a regular season game doesn't mean it's stupid to get excited. I still remember hugging random strangers, even picked up a girl (I mean literally picked her up as we were all cheering on the intense moments of the game). Especially since you're going to see some good teams, definitely enjoy it.

And finally, enjoy a Heat victory (hopefully) by walking with the about half the crowd to Bayside. Go toward the live music area, there is a small bar (looks like a hut, sort of) right in front of the stage. They make the best pina coladas in South Florida (I'm bias, also they are reasonably priced, relatively). Definitely get some.

You'll be part of the really live crowd in the 300 section. Glad you'll be able to catch the action.

Enjoy the game and the city!

Go to the game early. If its a 7 o clock start I'd advise you to leave like at 5 or earlier. Traffic at that time couples with people going to the game is awful. After the game chill at bay side for a bit. Everyone is gonna be trying to leave the stadium at the same time so just wait till that rush is over.

Also u have a good section. Make some noise!!!!

I'm jealous of you! As an Atlanta Georgia native I've seen the Heat play the Hawks a couple of times but my goal is to take a trip to Florida and catch a home game before the Big 3 era is over.

Enjoy the experience!
