beasley should be our sixth man. then bring in andersen, then ray THEN cole.
over these last few games even though we have lost beasley has really stepped it up. i dont want to say his improved play and usage correlate with the losses since our best player has been stinking it up.

Tim_Hardawayy wrote:Beasley in the starting lineup has always been a bad idea imo because he doesn't augment the offense. 5 guys cannot score at once, and Beasley's best asset is his 1 on 1 scoring ability, which is wasted sharing the floor with all 3 of the big 3 and even Chalmers who knows how to score.

The thing about Shane is his effectiveness wanes when he isn't hitting that corner 3, but he brings solid spacing to the offense. Beasley does not because he hasn't learned how to play as a spot-up shooter, and the fact is, the best offenses in the NBA all utilize spot-up shooting to excel (look at OKC, Portland and San Antonio, all have tons of guys who can hit that corner 3 after their star players).

That's just on the offensive side of the ball, obviously Shane brings more defensively (in a pure man to man situation Beasley's ok but pure man defense doesn't decide games, team defense does).

So no, I prefer him in his off the bench role where he can come into lineups where LeBron or Wade aren't on the court and provide another go-to scoring option. Until he learns how to fit into an offense and magically becomes a much better passer or spot-up shooter (hard to see that happening overnight), he's always going to be a bit of an awkward fit.

To sum it up, Beasley is a Carmelo Anthony type player with slightly worse court vision on a team with an already awesome offense... he just isn't the best fit (this is also why I'm totally against any scenario where we go for Carmelo and lose Bosh this summer, though that's a whole different topic).

Thats the thing right now with his long slump he is not bringing spacing and hes not playing good defense either. Teams are daring him to shoot the 3 since the know hes in a slump and its the until he hits it we wont worry about him mentality. That kills our spacing. JJ gives us the 3 ball but worse defense than Beasley.
